tach idle

Ok so I recentlly got my wisdom teeth removed. I was laid up in the bed all week. I didn't drive my car any and niether did anybody else. So when I actually did the tachometer was idling up aroud 6500. I was like that aint right. The engine doesn't idle with it and it seems to be normal. So what could the problem be. My dad said it was probably something electrical and i'm not really good with all that stuff. Some ideas on how to fix it would be greatly apreciated.

Are you talking an aftermarket tach or the factory dash tach? If it is the factory tach then I would then wonder if any of the other gauges are acting weird.

Send a message via AIM to pimpinkdawg
you might want to try just disconnecting the battery waiting about 5 minutes then reconnecting it tell me if it works.

it was idling at 6500!!
dear lord, was it actually idling that high, or was it idling normally and the gauge was just going haywire?
I would try disconnecting the batt like pimpinkdawg said if it is just the gauge, if it is actually idling that high I would take it somewhere, something is not right

sorry I should have been clearer. The ngine wasn't idling any higher than normal. Its just the tach. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll try disconnecting the battery. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
