Roller-rockers?

Alright. I'm looking to purchase a JWT cam set and I need to know if I have roller-rocker cams or not.
It's a '96 P10.

You do not have roller rockers. You can use any of the S series cams right now. If you want to run the C series cams you will have to change valve springs.

Your best bet would be the S3 cams.

Whats the diff between the S cams and C cams...and the diff between S3 and S4 cams?...

Does it matter between a high port or low port?

The S series cams can be used with the stock valve springs. The C series cams have much more aggressive lobe ramping and require replacement of the valve springs and retainers with parts from JWT.

They have had special valve springs made that raise the harmonics of the springs to keep them from floating - even with the aggressive C series cams. They are not much higher rate than stock (the common way of fighting valve float is to install high rate valve springs - sometimes not the best idea), but the key is the raised harmonics. Mike Kojima and Rob Cadle have gone into this in great detail on the SE-R Mailing List. The retainers are made of titanium since lower mass also helps to raise the harmonics of the valve train.

The valve springs and retainers are so effect that they alone will add about 2 hp on and otherwise stock engine.

The C series cams will make more hp than the S series.

I don't know if this is how JWT intended it but it makes sense.

S series = Street cams
C series = Competition cams

Then the higher the number the more aggressive they are. S series was intended for street cars and daily driving. The C series is intended for racing, have lumpy idle and narrow but high power band.

I also thought that the C1 cams can be used with the stock springs and retainers but I don't know if they are outdated or not.

i think the c1's cost about twice as much as the s4's because the price includes the valve springs as well. i could be wrong though.
