Question HELP!!!!! Pitted chrome rims...

I have 17" Enkei chrome rims on my Civic. I just noticed that they are pitted on the inside wall and on the edges or corners of the rim. It seems as if in certain spots its on the noticeable part of the rim also. On the inner part of the rim the chrome is peeling off! How do I fix this? Which is the cheapest way to fix it and how much will it cost? Will it be better to get new rims? Can I do nothing and will it stay the same way or will the pitting spread?

Please help!!!

Thanks

If it is peeling off then your screwed. Too expensive to get fixed. You gotta watch what you wash it with too. The wrong chemical will make spots appear. Looks like you got a cheap pair of chrom rims, unless you have been abusing them.

Sounds like clear coat peeling to me. Not a huge problem like some people want to make it out to be.

It's going to come down to how much your Enkei's are worth to you. The only fix is to take them to a GOOD body shop or wheel shop and have them refinished and rechromed. Could cost you over $500 a wheel possibly, or it could be a lot cheaper. I'd call around, get some quotes, and go from there. It's not the DEATH of the wheels, and it's not going to DESTROY them - they're still perfectly usable. What you're seeing is superficial damage due to poor finish wok or poor refinish work at some point.

You just put your own foot up your azz. $500 is way more than what 1 chrome rim costs!

Obviously intelligent and mature conversation isn't a staple here. Ah well.

Read that again, if you're able to find someone to read it to you again, in it's entirety.

I don't know of anyone who does rechroming, I've never had to have it done. I've got a friend who repaints my wheels for $50 a shot, plus supplies. For all I know, it could be $50 to rechrome every wheel you OWN. Either way, the point I was making is that it's not the death of the rims, as the money-wasting public - otherwise known as Rice Boys - were making it out to be.

I doubt that it would be 50$ for him. It's not like you just spray some chrome on from a spraybottle or something. Who are these riceboys?
