Shopping for 92-95 civic...
Hey guys,
Im shopping for a 92-95 civic ex and probably have a price cap of about 5000 to 5500. This probably leaves me with a 92 or 93. My question is how many miles is too many for a civic. I am planning on having this car for as long as possible. Could someone tell me the gas mileage on one of these. I also hear that they get 0-60 mph time of about 9.2. Does this sound right? Any problems inparticular that I should look for when shopping? Are there any exs with special pachages or anything to look for? And although very far down the road, I am planning on super or turbo charging but I am wondering if I can just slap one on without any other mods or would that be too much for the engine? What does forced induction do for gas mileage and reliability? I know its a lot of questions but I am new to all this. Thanks in Advance Ktulu |

mileage- avg is about 15,000 mile a year use that with the age of the car. Gas Mileage- Id say good for about 25-35 mpg depending on your driving style. 0-60- 9.2 sounds about right if the car is running strong and depending on the driver. Problems- Hondas are pretty good. Just check for the basics. Leaks, sounds, etc. Packages- The EX will have most of the important options, sunroof, power, etc. Turbo or SC- The biggest thing to remember when doing this is the condition of the engine and other parts at the time of install. Check gaskets, Compression, etc. to make sure everything is in good working order. The nice thing about the EX is you can pickup a motor pretty cheap being a SOHC, lots of people are ditching them for B series motors. Its very important to everything tuned correctly also, fuel, ignition, etc. Mileage isnt as big of a deal aslong as everything is in good shape. Keep this in mind and you should be fine. If you are going to do a turbo or SC you may want to do this as one of the first things since kits like Greddy Turbos and JRSC are made for stock applications. The biggest thing to remember with FI and gas mileage is now that you have power you will probably be using it more. Which means more fuel burnt, if you arent a pedal to the metal driver and drive sensible you may not see a big difference in mileage. But you will also have to run high octane gas which will cost a little more. Good luck, hope this helps.
