Removing Driver Side axel?

Help!

I have a 1996 Sentra that I need to pull the axel from. I can pull it out maybe 3 inches and that's it...

What is the secret/trick?

Not Sure if this will help or not. I had to replace the Driver side Axle on my 95 Sentra GXE. At first it would not budge. I had to take a large slot screw driver and pop out the axle. Granted it only came out 3 in or so. Now if you are planning on reusing the axle D NOT do this next part. to get the axle out... I had to wood block the transaxle and use a prybar to force it out the rest of the way. What I found that the end of the axle has a wire clip that was catching and keeping it from coming out.......
