Broken SL2
I have thrown a rod in a 95 SL2 Twin Cam and am wondering if it's possible to put in a different years engine.

you can fit just about anything in anything with enough money and a lot of effort. They fit V8 Mustang engines in Miatas...

saturn engines changed very little between 91 and 2002, you will probably need to replace the computer but the transmission, exhost, and motor mounts are all compatable.

Re: Broken SL2
Go with the 2000 model for performance they have aluminum cylinders. for daily driving go with the same year no big deal. Same as a 2000 probably cheaper remanufactured than buying a new 2000 for the difference you can upgrade your remanufactured engine.

Re: Broken SL2
Yes, but my '00 motor (SOHC, manual trans) has 100,000 miles on it and has never had anything but scheduled maintenance (except to replace the top mount), so I'm personally a big fan of the '00 motor.

Re: Broken SL2
Umm... I just noticed that this was posted originally in February of '03... if that car's still broken, he's got bigger problems than just a thrown rod.
