Tony E, will you want the new gallardo?

Just wondering how murci owners will feel when the new gallardo arrives because from what we hear it will have less hp but be just as fast if not faster than a murci. Whats your opinions on this, do you feel slighted in a way? even though the murci is still top dog and georgious!

well the acceleration is indeed nearly the same like the murcielago ...
but there will be missing some kmh at top speed... i think about 20-25kmh

Remember that the Gallardo is a somewhat lower level Lambo (compared to the Murci) that's supposed to be in the same segment as the 360 - but always classier.. either way I dont think Tony would buy one if he has a Murci.. one for his wife maybe ??

Sure, the Gallardo is low in class compared to the Murci, but is not "low class" at all. It would be worthy of sitting in his garage next to the Murci, and IMO, this is a much nicer car than the 360.

Yes its a matter of 'The best syndrome' for many people even if the best is just slightly better they will pay top dollar just so they ahve the best, this would be one of the reasons why it is priced so low. The other is competition, but think about it, performance comparance, and how much cheaper would this car be to produce.. i mean a bit, but then theres the alloy frame... So compare the performance and features to the price, then do the same for the Murcielago.. the gallardo give alot more for your $ but then again, the best costs up to 40% more, but its what people are willing to pay for the ultimate lamborghini.. and if i had the money, i would also go the extra yards to get the murci.

I still like the murcielago more ! the gallardo is second, but i like the classical v12 better than the v10, because not many companies have v12.:bandit:

I just found this thread thanks to Pennyho. It started some time ago.

I was just at the Lamborghini dealership today and so I asked the tech if he thought the Gallard would canibalize the sales of the Murci. He thought that it wouldn't be a problem. He felt that it will just open up a new class of buyers. He also said the Ferrari has held off on production decisions because they are waiting to see the effect that the Gallardo has on the marketplace. They want to know if the car will eat into the 360 sales and if it will eat into Murci sales.

I'm not interested in the Gallardo personally. I purchased the Murci because I wanted the ultimate car. The Ferrari 360 was a possibility but it was too common and not agressive enough. The Mclaron or Enzo would have worked but they are way to expensive for the incremental benefit. The Murci is the right car for me.

I will however be a bit sad the day that the Lamborghini releases the Murcielago GT.

In case anyone cares, I was doing Spanish vocab in school when I came across Gallardo in the glossary. The meaning was simply gallant, or graceful. I would hate to think the Mitsubishi Galant is Japan's, and our, version of the Gallardo.
