Cool Settings for Street Drifting

What's your best drift set-up? And no, I'm not talking neither about drift settings for tarmac racing nor rally racing, I'm talking about free-racing by yourself in some rear-wheel-drive car and making the hugest, widest, and smoothest arc possible at moderate speeds.

I use the 180SX, with relatively soft suspension (I won't bother with the exact numbers), tall gearing so that I won't need to change gears excessively, no LSD, and most importantly--equip simulation tires.

Like this, I can stay askew for a full 5 seconds at anywhere from 60-100mph.

Can you post some of your drift settings? I have a few (Hachi-roku, Lancer Evo IV (yes you can drift in a four wheel drive car) and a 1800k Silvia). I can post some of them if you like. I love to monster kill with them, especially the 1800K.

What are you settings for all-wheel-drive drifting? I know its doable, but its hard to hold a smooth angle for a long time with four wheels powering (unless its on the wet track in GT3). My settings I cannot remember at the top of my head but like I said, the damper settings and spring rates were fairly low, along with the aforementioned other settings.

I have the torque set weird and also I changed the differential so 80% of the power goes to the rear wheels. It handles better than most of my rear-wheel drive cars. Oh and I have strong sway bars.

Cool, gotta try it like that. Yeah, most of my all-wheel-drive cars have the center differential set to more power to the rear wheels too. Simply put, I hate understeer.

try taking off both TCS and ASM first...get the feel of it, that's what i did with my arta

then change the gear ratios accordingly.
I messed around with the settings and they worked quite well, but I don't really know what they are exactly as its on my friends memory card. I check it out and post

also, what car(s) do you use?

Set the gear ratios to "long" so that you won't ever run into the redline too quickly at mid-drift. Set the rears to toe out a little bit; that way you won't totally spin out every time. For all-wheelers, you might need to tap the parking brake to break free from the line.

Get a 400R and put a stage 2 (or more if you're mad) turbo kit on it (with the zorst and all other trimmings) and it will drift. It doesn't really know it's 4WD, I think Anyway, it gets well sideways, really easily. And as long as you're careful about it, quite manageable. btw, that's without the VCD, so it's the standard 4WD system.

Yea, I know, about a year late ...

I kinda like the Supra ... 1000+hp, it spins the tires to 130mph, no matter what you set the LSD to, and if you play with the TCS, its either too strong, and slows you down in a corner, or its too soft, and you spin out .. I've got it Max Tuned, and it slides pretty nicely ... just throttle oversteer, and hang on ... When I get finished moving, I'll dig up my game, and post my settings.

300zx 2 seater. Boost that puppy up to 915hp and take off all form of traction control. I have my limited slip all set to 5 except the acceleration, which is set to 10. (way too much horsepower) Put on some racing tires and let yourself lose on midfield raceway. I have a replay saved from a perfect drifting session I had, all I need to do is find a way to put it on my computer.
