Finding a DSM

I've been looking for a 95 Eclispe GSX /Talon TSI for about 6 months now. I found one at first and was gona trade my 66 Mustang for it, but it fell through. now all I gotta do is find one becuase i have the money. Know any places I can look?

Also, look for the Plymouth Laser, they were also the same car. That should help you some.

I've got a 1992 Talon TSi AWD for sale if you are interested. No worries about crank walk with this one unlike a 95-99 DSM.

All 2G dsms have the potential for crank walk. The is much debate over what causes the crankwalk. Here is a really thorough article about one theory of the cause if you're interested.

What is crank walk any way? I wanted a 95 because I like the looks mostly. Are the earlir ones lighter at all?

Crankwalk is when the crank moves back and forth across the bearings, eventually destroying them, the block, and the crank. The block and crank are machined within a certain tolerance to minimize the amount of play between the crank and bearings. One theory about the cause of crankwalk is the block and crank where not machined properly. Another is a lack of oil. The odds of having crankwalk on a stock motor are low but as the motor ages and/or mods are added, the odds increase. The only solution is to put a 1G (90-94) dsm motor into the 2G. The most preferred motor is the 90, 91, and pre May 92 motors, which are known as the 6 bolt motors. The 6 bolt refers to the number of bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank, but that's just a way of identifying them. The reason they are preferred is they have a much larger rod than the 7 bolt (92-99) motors.

that would be your best bet , cause you know the person you are getting the car from actually knows about DSM's and knows what they are worth and probally didnt rag the car out!

dsmtrader.com is a great resource but there are as many unknowledgeable sellers as anywhere else you look so make sure you research all vehicles thoroughly.

i would go through autotrader.com, i found my 91 gsx and 91 tsi awd through autotrader. i would never buy a car that i've never seen or driven, thats just stupid. by the way, if u want a real dsm, go with a 90-94 . avoid a laser, they are just ugly.
