Something like a 1:10 to 1:20 ratio - should b e almost like water. Thin it with rubbing alcohol. And you shouldn't use X-1, you should use XF-1.

I hope you are thinning it with the right thinners......
Thin it about 20/1 and it should be OK

If you want to argue about which black, I prefer X-18 for panel lines on darks cars, and XF-19 for light colored cars
rubbing alcohol will work when making a wash, I was concerned that yo would try to use water like I have heard of people doing......

I've read somewhere to use windex to thin water based acrylics. i tried it and it works ok. i guess it has less water tension because of the stuff in it... plain water would tend to stay in one spot rather than run through the panel lines.

Humm, I think you should use flat black or at least semi gloss. If you look at a real car, notice how the panel lines don't reflect light back at you.

Use a 50/50 combination of alcohol and water to thin it. Too much alcohol can attack some paints.

if you use a lacquer overcoat becareful, alcohol will eat through it. i suggest you use an enamel wash instead, paint thinner wont affect lacquer.

Tamiya make a X-20A Thinner which is the best to use to thin down your paint

You must use Testor's because it's the only laquer that alcohol would hurt. Testor's =TRASH.
