Question Hp?

Hey Everyone, I am 17 and have a 1989 Maxima SE. I have a body kit on it, low pro wheels, and 17" chromes, blue lights, clear corners, system, and underbody lights. All i have done performance wise is put in a new Muffler. I was wondering how much HP they have stock, because i want to boost it up to about 200 hp. I was alreadythinking about an intake, but what else would i have to do?

It's getting painted in like 2 weeks, will have a pic when it does.

89-91 SE's have 160 hp
92-94 SE's have 190 hp.

Good luck trying to get your car up to 200hp:bathroom:

Come on dog, give homeboy some hope, Get intake.. Thats #1, then you want to change the whole exaust system. I'm talking cat-back and pre-cat(Y-pipe) if they make one for the 89 Max. I know your 17 but work them long hours at Micky D's and save up for that Turbo... "In the words of a wise man" Thats my .02

I think that year is the VG motor, same as the single turbo 300zx motor, you should just find a JDM VG30ET or VG30DET, and drop that in. Some boost and bolt ons you will be flying.

Micky D's

Hey Dude, thanks for givin me a lil hope, and i'll definately be lookin into that stuff, but u gotta give even a 17 year old some respect, i dont' work at Micky D's i work at a body shop, where i only make $6.50 but I also work detailing cars, where i make like $18.00 an hour, and have a lawn mowing business. So i will prob have it over the summer. I'm talkin about the exhaust. the only reason i don't have it now, because once i graduate, i was goin to drop in a different motor, such as a 2JZ if it would fit, or a 2R20

No dropping of Toyota motor, that is like those guys with hondas who drop in SR20's, its a pain in the ass.

SR20 is a good idea, but I really think that is a pain to because of the mounts. Try to stick with a V6 motor and preferably one that is turbo'ed from the factory like a VG30ET.

Good Luck

factory turbos are a waste, they are too small. dont bother with a new engine, i dont know if they make a turbo kit for your year but that would be the way to get the most HP. you also have to remember the car is aged a little (13-14 years), and it probably has a decent amount of miles. so adding a lot of power could end your dreams pretty quickly.

BTW a turbo kit would probably give you 80 to 100 HP so you'd be clearing 200 with no problem.
