This is What I want to do too.. it's 5$/ sheet of decal (8½/11) so it's quite inexpensive and I really need some custom decals

Why not try it yourself? Just make sure that your designs are created at a HIGH resolution and that you print on the highest resolution.

Yes you would need "decal" paper. HP has a version of it, if I remember correctly. Go to best buy since that is where you bought your camera, and look where there printing paper is. That is where I saw it last time I went to my Best Buy.
Also this was just brought up and one still on the first page of topics http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t84553.html

I use an HP DeskJet 890C Professional Series with Kodak Image Enhancements (says so on the printer
) to make my decals. Being an inkjet, the decals are lacking in some areas. Don't get me wrong. I get GREAT decals, but if they are laid over a dark color (basically, anything other than white or silver), the get too dark. Over a white base though, they look great.I don't believe the transparency problem is a big deal with the lazer printers though, as I believe they actually use a form of powder. But as far as a custom decal from an inkjet on a black car, is just ain't workin'. Hope this helps. Note: Those results were with a clear sheet. I'm not sure if black would show through something on the white decal sheet, but it would be hard to get a close cut to eliminate the extra white. I am yet to try my white decal paper though.

One important thing is to make sure your printer is set to photographic paper when printing decals,by default they are usually set to plain paper.

some decal sheets are glossy so youd need to spray on a dull acrylic coat so that it can absorb the ink better. after that you need to seal it with a liquid decal so they when you dip the decal in the water the ink wont wash away.
