Arrow mtx vs jl audio

Ok here is the deal. I have a sony explod xm 2150 gsx amplifier wired up in my trunk.(switched from the pioneer equivalent gsx962). I want to get one sub for the setup in my corolla. The choie is between Mtx thunder6000 series(12 inch) and Jl Audio 12 w3. Which of the two is the better one. Currently the Jl Audio is on sale sale for 70 bucks so if it is better pliz tell me Quick so I can catch one. Thanx

your choice will be dependent on what the amp says it will take for a load. It might only be stable for a 4 ohm load when it is bridged.

if the JL is a dual 2ohm driver, get the JL. if its a Dual 4, still get it. SQ is better (if installed right) and quality is better too.

Ok I dint bother to check those details. From what I hear and see in most guyz installs, Jl Audio seems to be better. Oh men! I can already picture how great it will sound. Cant wait.:alien2: :alien2: But I need to get a trunk kit otherwise the rattles are gonna kill the car

in theory, a second woofer with the same power as the original, will only net you 3 dB ........ not a huge increase. In practice, multiple woofers tend to couple together, making the gain a little more.

The only reason why I aint getting 2 subz now iz coz of the space they take in the trunk. That car does alot of shopping so that will kill the space. Gotta take mom to get them grceries!!:flash: :flash:

tha jl will handle more power reliably. the mtx6000 won't. I would get two of them and put them in a ported box (my preference). They should get silly loud then...

But since space is an issue, get one and build it in a ported enclosure that sits in your spare tire well. put a screen over the woofer and bam very little loss of space.

if you hear a difference in sound, it's because one (or both) of the boxes are rattling or "expanding" ..........

Well the system me and my bro installed in his lancer, is running 2x JL Audio 12-W0's. We were told that MTX has punchy bass and JL has clear sounding bass with nice low tones. Out of all the systems i have heard running JL's, for example-
Lancer sedan running 2x JL 12-w3 dual voice coild subs, basically double one of our subs, a ford TX3 running 2 dual voice coil JL 15" subs. Our system was louder and clearer than any of these 2 and we payed a fraction of the price they paid. My opinion is go for the JL's of course. If the enclosure is built properly to the right dimensions for the subs than u will be very impressed with the sound. And as for the Perspex enclosure, dont use Perspex, trust me i built an enclosure with perspex involved and it sounded crap. Always use MDF, i like to use 18mm MDF, it is soft wood so when the bass moves around inside the box, it sound clear and really nice coz the box expands to the bass. There is a completely different sound from MDF to Perspex, Perspex is hard so certain bass tones sound dead.
