Unhappy '02 keyless reprogramming not like '01?

Yes, I'd like to know how to do this.
I tried the 2001 proceedure outlined here, but never get any
response from any remote (I have four) no matter how long
I hold the lock and unlock buttons. All else seems to go
as outlined in the proceedure. What gives?

Might help http://www.commandoalarms.com/KL-455install.htm alot of people have problems with these. I chose not to add one to my car for this reason. Finding how to program them is hard to find. I suggest talking to a GM sales person or parts person.

The procedure is basically the same for 97 and up Grand Prix's. Are you getting the conformation chimes? Let me know what is, or is not happening and maybe I can help you.

Just for the record here is the 2002 Grand Prix Procedure taken directly from the service manual.

Document ID # 681936
2002 Pontiac Grand Prix

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transmitter Programming

Important
All transmitters which are to be recognized by the remote control door lock transmitter (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If the system is placed in program mode it will erase all previously programmed transmitters upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter. Up to four transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle.

Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Close all of the doors.
Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the fuse block.
Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
Turn the ignition to ACC. The body control module (BCM) will perform the following in order to identify the type of BCM installed in the vehicle:
Flash the seat belt indicator 1, 2, or 3 times.
Chime 1, 2, or 3 times.
Turn the ignition to OFF, and then back to ACC within 1 second. The BCM may begin to chime and flash diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). If the BCM has stored any DTCs, refer to Diagnostic System Check - Body Control System in Body Control System.
Open and then close any vehicle door. The BCM will chime in order to confirm that the programming mode has been entered.
Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for approximately 14 seconds.

Important
After approximately 7 seconds the BCM will chime once to confirm that synchronization has been completed. After approximately 14 seconds the BCM will chime a second time to confirm that the programming has been completed.

Repeat the previous step in order to program each additional transmitter.
Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.
Install the MALL PGM fuse into the fuse block.
Operate the functions of each transmitter in order to verify correct system operation.

Exclamation Talked to GM dealer

My local GM dealer told me it could only be done by them, because they had to hock up a computer to the car to program the remote. They also told me that it hadf to be a GM remote . ( I'm not sure that I beleive this though.) I've also talked to a couple of installers. One told me that there should some way of reprograming that the GM dealer could tell me. I have tried the way John had suggested but it didn't work, maybe I did something wrong though, so I'm going to give it another try this weekend. The other installer told me that it wouldn't work with the remote I have.

This is true, does your car have the factory keyless option AU0?
The remote will have to have part number 9364558 on the back of it.
If you don't know you can PM me your vin and I can check it out for you.

Unhappy Can't enter program mode

I've followed the proceedures, and find that when I get to the step
of opening and closing a door to confirm that I've entered the programming mode, the BCM does not chime to confirm. It doesn't seem to care about any door. If I switch off the ignition key, the radio display stays on until I open a door. So I know that the door switches work. The car is a 2002 GP SE, and the remotes are 9364556.
When I remove the Mall PGM fuse, insert key and turn to ACC I get
two chimes and flashes. The owner's manual seems to indicate that the remote keyless entry only works on 3 or 4 chime/flash. This is when the keyless entry options are setup as are the interior lighting delay and autolock options. They also seem to indicate that there is no 1-flash/chime, only 2, 3, or 4....
What gives?

Exclamation 2001 Grand Prix keyless entry reprogramming

John, I too have been trying to reprogram remotes to my 2001 Grand Prix GT using the procedure you described. I'm sure that I'm missing something, but I have been through it time and time again, and can't figure it out.

When I get to the part about opening the door, the car chimes once when I open it and once when I close it, then I never get the chimes acknowledging that I'm in the progamming mode.

When I push the buttons on the transmitter, again, nothing.

I'm gonna try a dealer I guess, they only charge $18.00. It's probably worth that to avoid the stress.

Thanks for the insight though.:bandit:
