Exclamation 2003 Owners Beware

Growing problem concerning the halogen headlamps in the 2003 maxima series. These lights are of generic make, which allows them to be placed in any type of vechile. The problem that is arising due to this is the theft of these lights which cost approx. $650 each. Being the the front grill is plastic, it is easily ripped off, which in turn gives access to cutting off the horn and thus disabling alarm system in place. After this the lamps are removed from car. This is a growing problem that is on the rise. It not only has happened to me, but to a co-worker of mine, reports of same situtation have been reported to police with cars parked at malls, and even a nissan dealship in my area has been affected, to name a few. If you or someone you know has been affected by this place respond. Something must be done in order to protect our cars and wallets!

Sincerely Disgruntled 2003 GLE Maxima owner, and previous owner of 1997 Maxima.

2002+ maxima's have xenon HID healights...halogens are cheap and in less expensive vehicles. also, you can get locks for your headlights to prevent this problem. can't be placed in any vehicle either, cause you need the harness to handle the extra wattage

If you don't have the harness, you could melt some shit. This happened to me earlier this month. I had to go to pep boys and get another harness and stock bulbs

it's not the lights they're after. it's the power box that is bolted to the back of the lights. this box puts out a really high current that makes the lights high intenisty and can be put on many dfferent kinds of headlights. Our channel 9 news just did a story on it yesterday.

Melted Lights??

I 'm currently running the high wattage xenon bulbs with no problems although everyone said the upgrade harness was needed.

Angry They've stolen mine too

I know what you're talking about. Those assholes stole mine headlights too today. Like U said new xenons are $650-750 p/piece, plus new grill (they just ripped it out), plus bent both fenders and scrached bumper and hood. Same story with my two neighbours - one night, one parking lot, three cars. They did exactly like U said: first the grill, they pulled off or cut off the wires from the honk (disables alarm), then the lights. If anyone has an idea what to do to protect headlight stealing and how to make the alarm system at least more difficult to shut up please help.
On the other hand I can't belive how Nissan could leave an alarm system so easy to disable??????????:greenchai

watch out in north jersey i know a lot of people looking specifically for those maximas. its not just because the are easy to steal. they are 9000k, which is the brightest HID on the market.

id love to get those lights in my car but im not the type to rob and steal, feels better to pay for things and have everyone be jealous.

If someone stole my headlights, they wouldn't get far without a bullet in their ass. My room is over the garage.......

I was running Hyper Industries in my max, a month or two later, bye bye harness, burned em all up. Best bet is to solder the wires directly to the bulb and just completly remove the harness all together.

Good Luck
