Question Maxima top speed ???

I own a 95 maxima SE (Bone Stock ) I like my license so never tried top end on my maxima (have had to 125 mph ) Can anyone tell me approximate top speed of stock maxima ?? @ 125 it felt as though there was a lot of speed left . Thanks and I am not suggesting anyone "open er up" on public streets , That would be very wrong . :smoker:

It would be good to now if you are manual or auto, but I would guesstimate 137 m.p.h.

so do something about it...

This modification is easy. But beware, it does include mutilation of the factory ECU wiring harness...not for the squeamish.

1.Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2.remove ECU cover from passenger side footwall.
3.Loosen bolt in center of main ECU connector.
4.Unplug main ECU connector.
5.Remove snap-on plastic cover from ECU connector.
6.Locate PINK wire with BLUE stripe. (this wire is located on the right half of the connector when plugged in)
7.Cut PINK/BLUE wire.
8.Reassemble ECU connection.
9.Reconnect negative battery terminal.
10.Drive 140+ mph.

This modification will cause the "check engine" light to illuminate. If you check the codes, you will get 0104 (Vehicle speed sensor fault) and 0504 (A/T control unit fault). So far there have been no drivability problems
associated with this mod.

Enjoy.

my top speed

before I put on these mods it went a top speed of 137 pretty accurate and I stayed there for a while. (97 5 sp maxima se) I installed a cai warpspeed y pipe OBX cat back, eibach springs kyb agx struts, short throw and strut bar. My top speed I'm not sure of because when I tried this I had no hood on the car, but I touched 140 a lot faster than before and I am postive It will go atleast 150+. good luck and I wouldn't do that on public road.

I got a 97' SE Max, stick. I was going up the jersey turnpike screwing around with a Porsche. I hit 135, and had PLENTY of speed still left. The Porsche hit his brakes hard though, so I did too. GOOD THING- There was a pig sittin' right ahead and would have nailed us both. Oh, and I havn't done a damn thing to my ride!

You have plenty left... The 95SE is not governed and is drag limited. You should hit 140mph with no problems....

The reason they put those chips in the cars is based on the tires Ratings, if you have the H rated tires which are economy/performance then you'll probably only get a gov that's rated to 130 or 128 as someone stated.
If you have the z rated tires you can go to the limits of the top end which is what your car can do flat out against drag.
