Talking The Best Ride You Ever Had(in a car)

just like the title says best ride or drive you ever had in a car
for me it would have to be a 2002 Mercedes Benz S500 or a 1969 Camaro SS

In order of greatness, stories after.

1. 1998 Ferrari F355 Spider blue/tan (new at the time)
2. 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera blue/tan
3. 2001 Porsche 911 Cabrio black/black (also new at the time)
4. 2001 Porsche Boxster S silver/black (new as well)

1. Went to Ferrari of Atlanta with my folks back when they were in their older building. We quite obviously weren't there to buy, but the manager was out walking around and there were no other customers or anything to do, so he let me walk around, sit in whatever I want, then took us on a tour of the dealership. Took us out back into the shop, they had just finished working on and testing an F40...that was sweet and loud as hell. We went to the boutique after the tour for me to pick out something cheap to buy (to kind of show our appreciation for the kindness), and Dad and the manager got talking while I was picking about cameras (both camera buffs ). The manager walked away after the conversation and dad came over and paid for what I picked out (348TS badge, Ferrari mousepad, and 1:18 F40 diecast model). The manager had left to photograph the blue 355 for the website, and as we were getting ready to leave, he asked if I wanted to go for a ride in it before he put it away. Nearly fell over Anyways, so I hopped in, we pulled out of the parking lot, then he gunned it, full throttle, F1 shift It was a decently long small rarely travelled on straight road, then at the end met up with a larger one block street. As we got to the end, we pulled up behind a Boxster that had just been at the dealer...the owner was actually looking at buying this very 355. He pulled out, and we tailed him out. The Boxster started takin off kinda quick, so the manager gave the 355 about half throttle, maybe not even. We stayed glued to it's tail. At the end of the road, the direction we were going split into 2 lanes, one to turn each way. He was turning the opposite way, so we pulled up beside him. The manager asked if that was floored, the owner blushed and said "That was pedal to the metal " The manager just laughed. Anyways, there was either a light or a stop sign, but either way we could make a right when it was clear. We were turning onto a 4 lane street. In the far lane as we were pulling out, there was a Chrysler minivan...it was a ways back when we first pulled out but caught up right away since he was already moving and passed us. Mr. Manager gave it maybe half throttle again, and as we passed the van again, I looked up, and through the tinted back window I saw about 6 little boys glued to the window, faces and hands We turned right again onto a 1 block street, floored it, hit 110 mph, then gently braked to 0 again for the stop sign. Turned right, decent throttle, then right again and VERY SLOWLY over train tracks back to the street we came from, and back into the lot

2. Every year my school puts on the largest outdoor autoshow in North America, with practically all new models there. Porsche set up a "Porsche test track", where you could donate to charity, stand in line, and get a ride around a little auto-x course they had set up in one of the parking lots. Anyways, the year before I had been on Porsche team, so we were all supposed to get a ride for free...but we never got a chance because they destroyed the cars tires. This year however, the Porsche captain was one of the team members from the year before, and said he'd make sure we all got our ride. This year they had a tire sponsorship, so unlimited tires Anyways, it was my turn to go so I hopped in. The guy asked me, if I wanted a light ride, a fast as possible good auto-x run, or if I wanted him to drift the whole course. "DRIFT!", I exclaimed as I strapped in So off we went, drifting the entire course, about a minute in the car. Wasn't a very long ride, but boy it was fun

3. One of the cars we had at the first autoshow I was in, as a Porsche team member. Rode around with the top down all over campus, fastest we got going was about 80 mph.

4. Same as above, just slower.

Well, the Porsche rides at Heeps school was good, i must say....
I rid in a 78 corvette to 120mph, with the top off, that was fun.
But I would have to say that being able to drive myself now is the most fun, as when it snows, i have fun drifting around the generally deserted streets. Then, when i need a high speed sideways fix, i go to a churh parkin lot with a street leading out of it. So, i can put it into a drift at 70kmh with no worries of messing anything up. At least im careful now with fun driving

99 Hummer H1. A friend of a friend of a friend's dad (something like that) owned it, and I was lucky enough to get to drive it. Just around the block tho.

Other than that, nothing.

I think I have had some pretty lame best rides compared to some of you. I've ridden in my buddy's father's 2000 Porsche 911, and my friend's 2001 Audi S4. I'm drawing a blank as to what other cool cars I've been in...

The best drive I've ever taken, along the lines of what Kicker and Tangie posted above, might have to be this. But I was the driver for that ride, not the passenger.

R34 Skyline GT-R Top Speed run along Sydney's M2 motorway after new turbos, external wastegate and tuning had been completed. 1-235km/h in a matter of seconds.

Coolest car I've ever driven - Porsche 911 Turbo at the age of 17. Working as a mechanics assistant had it's advantages.
