C3

This is the Citroen C3, the new supermini that replaces the Saxo. I think it looks funky as hell, certainly the looker of its class... a famous car desginer described it as the car his Parisian mistress would drive, in black with beige leather interior :hehe:

I can certainly imagine that, i'm a big fan of the design:

Citroen going back to more funky designs! Great!

I'm sorry man, but the C-3 ain't replacing the Saxo. It's bigger then the Saxo and is positioned between the Xsara and the Saxo. C-2 which comes in spring is going to replace the Saxo.

The Citroën range is moving upwards and this operation will be complete when C4 replaces the Xsara at the end of this year/early 2004 and C-6 being the top car mid 2004. Therefor the C4 is positioned between the Xsara and the Xantia. The C-5 is positioned between Xantia and XM and C6 will fill in the top range gap, above the XM so to say.

----> C2 (2003)
Saxo
----> C3 (2002)
Xsara
----> C4 (2004)
Xantia
----> C5 (2000)
XM
----> C6 (2004)

The C3 nevertheless looks very cute although the panoramic roof option - as being advertised by Citroën in TV commercials - is still not available due to technical problems. The 1.4 HDI 16V are the ones to have

My mistake. It seemed similar in size to the Saxo, only a little big bigger. With the trend in "growing" hatches i thought this was natural

so youre saying all these new C-X's are going to be in between current models... so what do they compete against?

Are they sharing chassis with Peugeot? Perhaps that will explain it?

Wonder if they'll also make C1 - should be small and cute!

They'll indeed make the C1 especially for the Estearn countries and it will be make there. The C1 is made on the same platform as the future Peugeot 00.7 and little Toyota.
But the Peugeot 107 and Citroën C2 are replacing the 106 and Saxo.
The classification of Huudo is perfectly right.
The C6 would challenge the E-Class but it's the heiress of the DS

And alas, there are not solution found for the big sun roof of the C3. Citroën is still looking for a new dealer.

The C3 is nice, isn't it ? It's better than a Fiesta or a Corsa but the built quality inside deceived us. A Saxo is better. Same thing for the C5 compared to the Xantia.
Style or quality for Citroën ????

Oh, a little comment about built quality;

It's a real issue with this car, and the first modelyear 2002, that is, had an opening and closing glovebox on the top of the dashboard, and overall dashboardfitting was pretty bad.

Now, about three months ago, Citroën was put in bad light when during some accidents and crash-tests, this door came of and damaged and injured the passengers badly.

That's why they decided to take it out and simply re-do the dashboard part, with better fitting overall.

here's my ducky!

Nice Ducky! What engine? I see you have the Exclusive spec. Does yours have the modified dash already?

Luckily it has, yes!

The engine is the 1.4 HDI sporting 75 fresh horses.
It's not because I have it, but I do think it s a nicely designed car.
Luckily I didn't choose the gay lightblue colour!
