Well, you aren't going to find much anything aftermarket for the Turbo I and Turbo II cars. I would suggest getting the turbo and intercooler from a turbo II setup. Click on any one of the links in my sig to get to one of my car sites. When you get to my site in the upp left is a plethra of links for modding the turbo I and II engines.

87? then you have a Garrett t03. at www.thedodgegarage.com Gary Donovan is a guru when it comes to these cars. and he shows you how to make your T3 into a T4 spec so you can intercool it.

But in short. What you want to do is get an intake from an 88-92 turbo one or turbo 2. your current intake is limited to 12psi. and even intercooled, as Gary will tell you, wont run as well as a car with a non-intercooled one piece intake~!

when you get a one piece intake, your going to have to get the computer from an 1988 or so turbo car. why? because of the log intake chrysler had to have the computer fire the injectors and spark in batch jobs, because cyl #1 was usually starved for air and fuel, so it fireed in in batch jobs. with a one piece the engine gets more air more evenly, so its the computer was reporgramed to do all this sequentially as far as i know.. so in 89 they changed the computers from two computers [one under the hood and one in the passanger fire wall] to a smec. it was done to save wiring. in 1990 -91 they when to even further heights and made a sbec. its all the computers you'd need mounted on the outside of your car.

what i suggest you do, is get a gus mahon certified g-valve. its a wastegate bleed that will let you run more boost. DO NOT exceed 15psi without an intercooler. when you get a decent sized intercooler, you can run 16-18psi. but again only with a one piece intake. your log will not do anything above 12psi. after 12psi the air starts staking on its self and theres a lot of pressure in your manifold, but your engines not breathing it.
the 2.2/2.5 turbo engines, as a rule, make 7hp per 1psi of boost.
so.7.5 psi x 7 =49hp over the NA version of that engine.

again, go to the websites listed. there's a wealth of information their.
and to prove they know what they are doing. Gary D has a plymouth reliant that runs a 10.5 in the 1/4 @ 130mph.

Take Care
and welcome to the club ;o)

thank you I appricate it quite a bit but I was wondering if there was any bolt on preformance parts that I would be able to buy and I also have another question I noticed that there was a bunch of wires attached to the intake as it was running along the driverside of the car (as it runs toward the haedlight) and I was wondering if I needed any of that like is it my mass airflow sensor and O2 sesor or what are they, because I just figured if I could bypass then and just put a cone airfilter and a heat sheild on the end of the intake (where the airbox currently is) because that should provide quicker boost. also does any company sell a cam gear and if so does anyone know to what degree to turn it to achive max preformance with a stock cam? and again Thank you for your help, it is much appricated

1st off your welcome.
2ndly these cars dont have a mass flow sensor. they have a map sensor.
you dont need any aftermarket parts for your car. its why you have a turbo to cover come all those bolt on's. You want more power? get a one piece intake. get an intercooler. get a blow off vlave. get a 5th injector. run 18psi. go to you local walmart. and proceed to by a new pair of pants

as for cam gear. again go to www.thedodgegarage.com Gary D runs
a company that sells aftermarket parts for your car.. he sells a niffty
cam gear.. and you could also get some underdrive pullies too.. he also
suggests running mobil 1 5w30 synthetic. good for 5hp all round. and the cam you have in your car now. is actually perfect for it.

3rdly. as to your wiring question. your going to have to show me a pic as to what you mean .

hope this helps

The Turbo I in 1988 and earlier cars was not a Garrett turbo, it was a Mitsubishi Turbo on the 2.2L I4. The Turbo II introduced in 1989 used the Garrett T03 on a 2.2L I4.

TII was introduced '86 in the GLHS and in 1987 in the Shelby Z. Ran from 87-89. with '89 having the much wanted 2.5" flange.

Mistsubishi TEO4 came on the 2.5 L4 in 1988 to 1993.

well my car is capable of running 12psi because for a short while the hose that connects the turbo to the waste gate was dissconnected and for a short period (read like 1 or 2 sec.) I was able to get the boost gauge to read off the gauge (boost blind if u will), so I think that my car in piticular is capable of more than 12psi, also I am having trouble with my scanner so it may be awhile before I am able to post a pic of the wires on the intake. Also is there w way where I can add like 1 or 2 psi of boost for super cheap, like my friend said if I were to use a smaller hose to the wastegate, that that would allow the car to use a little extra boost, because I am currently VERY short on money, but yet I still have the urge for more power but then who doesent? Do any of you know of any free mods, like i can get a timing light does anyone konw of the best timing to use for max power output? And one last thing when the wastegate was unattached the car would shudder and loose all of its speed if I over boosted it too much (any more than 10 or 11 that is) was this somthing mechanical or somthing that the computer detects and shuts off the ignition? Well thats all this time, and thanks for your help!

Hi

What you need is a bleed. This is what your talking about. Its how you extract more boost from your turbo without going to high. it sets the boost to a certain boost level and wont allow it to exceed it. if it does you will still experiece the violent "boost cut-out". to over come the boost cut out your going to need a zenor diode. it tricks the map sensor into thinking your turbos boosting at a given boost level when in fact your acutally boosting higher, but be sure you have enough fuel to match your air.

The hose that connects to the wastegate is your vaccuum line. You want this to be connected. removing your wastegate will cause your turbo to give infinite boost and cause over boosting. which is not good. Over boosting creates excessive heat in your turbo, overboosting also referes to when your turbo has surpassed its level of efficiency and its acutally pushing less air than when its in its efficiency range.

You need to maintain your fuel to air ratio. i believe goal is 14.5. running high boost will damage your motor. especially the 85-87 t1 where they have fragile rods and pistons.

Being that you have an 87 your able to run as much as 20 but thats with an intercooler.. id say your safe to 15psi. But with a "log" intake, there really isnt much point going over 12psi.

To figure out your hp.. take your psi, multiply it by 7. you then add the sum you come up with to the hp rating of the NA version of your motor. so 96hp of the NA 2.2 or 100 of the 2.5. but these motors are about hp as much as they are about torque.

i really suggest you visit
www.thedodgegarage.com its chalk full of info on moding your car. it even has a section that explains how to install a bleed, and how to convert your T03 to TII specs so you can intercool it. another good site is Gus Mahons and http://www.xmission.com/~dempsey/perform/ its a step by step way to increase your power based on your budget.

hope this helps
Bernard

on the websitte I read about the boost bleed valve, but it requires you to hook it up to the intake manifold, I was thinking it would be easier to just T the hose as is and put it in there, because I would think that that would be safer

Also thnk you very much for your support so far I appricate it

if I'm just adding the little bypass valve onto the wastegate tube how much boost would I be able to run without doing any modifications to the fuel system or anyother part, and still have a relaiable engine, because I've herd that this is a quite strong engine
