Zwan

Anybody heard of Zwan?

It's Billy Corgan's new band, and they sound ALOT like Smashing Pumpkins, I think I like it... Their drummer is the same guy from Smashing Pumpkins as well (Jimmy Chamberlain). They've got a video out for "Honestly" (which is all I've heard so far), but it's a great song. I think this band is going to be big.

Curious what Boingo thinks, because I know she's a HUGE SP fan.

I'd heard that Billy Corgan had a side project going on now, but that was the extent of what I had heard. Cool.

I have to admit that I was never a big SP fan, but I am always curious to see what new directions well-known artists are taking when they return to the scene in a new "vehicle."

Haven't heard them yet, but will tonight as they're guests on the David Letterman Show. I'm so, so excited. :flash: :licker: :silly2:

Well, I picked up the Zwan CD yesterday, and I'm enjoying it pretty well... It also came with a DVD of behind-the-scenes footage which was kind of cool... At this point, my favorites are "Honestly" and "Endless Summer".

ZWAN= Smashing Pumpkins with a different name. Granted not all of the band members from SP are there, but think about it, they sound the same, so they may as well be deemed as the same.

Actually I liked the 'look' of the Pumpkins a lot more. I miss James Iha. The new Zwan people besides Billy and Jimmy are a girl and two guys that look like lumberjacks.

ROFL yep.

The girl is the bass-player from A Perfect Circle... from the DVD, it doesn't look like she speaks a word of english... ? The other guys are just old friends of Billy's, and they don't look anything like the old SP, but I'm all about the sound, and although some of their songs have the distinct guitar riffs and vocals that are so much a part of the SP sound, some of the other tracks sound quite a bit different (to me anyways). Good stuff though.

I like them, but they're not up to SP par, IMO. The songs are too poppy to compete with the SP album stuff, and just plain not quite as good as the SP radio stuff.
