Angry Engine

I have a 1984 BMW 318i i want to buy a new engine(1.8 isnt enough). but i cant find how much engine room there is. Help me pls

You could easily fit a 325 6 cylinder engine, up till '91. :smoka: they have more power and torque, :smoka: but they weigh more and you'll upset the balance and handling of the car and you'll need to buy stiffer springs and possibly larger brakes. Don't bother with a V6 or V8 or V12 swap, unless you want to constantly remove the motor from the engine bay just to change spark plugs:smoka: Best option is to buy a 325, or you could just turbo your 318. :smoker2:

if you got the cash, www.kormanfastbmw.com is the place for you. they will build ou a motor or sell you a turbo that will give you about 6-8 pounds of boost. if you have a 1.8 L i think it'll take you horsepower from 138(?) to about 180-195hp. this is a cool way to doit because when you use a smalll amout of boost, you don't really have to remodify your iternals on your motor like springs, pistons, etc.

i was able to install a b30 engine (s50) with some mods. "the hedders and the shift linkage had to be had made, bill was 12G

one more thing a any "M50" will go in like cake and will have fine handling you should have springs and shocks on the car anyway ( if you want a engine [email protected]
