The purpose of clear coat.

I read the faq, but i got more confused when i started to play around with clear coat. Ok so i painted my test wing, clear coated it. Wait for like 1\2 hours, then took a soft shirt of mine, white one, and started to polish. All stuff came right thru the primer, and made it all fugly and messy. So far i understand that you can polish with clear coat right?

You waited HOW long!?

Clear coat needs a very long time to dry and shrink, about 7 -10 days under normal conditions. With waiting that long, it may have been dry to the touch but still very soft. repaint and wait a long time before trying it again. Good luck!

no, after your color paint goes down just keep layering on the clear coat. I'll usually put between 5 and 10 coats on, about 15 mins in between each coat. After you got all the clear coat on it, leave it alone for a week, then come back and polish it.

You shoudln't really clear coat (as in gloss coat it) Flat coat or a semi-gloss coat would be better.
