If your bro gets the b16...will he give you his b18 for free? IF so then go for the b18. IF you decide to get the b16..how much is ur friend gonna sell it to u for?

This isn't that hard of a decision do you want HP or torque ? You cna get HP but you won't get any torque out of the B16a (the toque less wonder). Or you could get the B18a with equal amounts of torues anf HP (about 130 HP and torque vs. b16a's 160 Hp) I would go with the B16a becuase than you could put a VTEC sticker on your car. LOL

hey

i have both motors the b18a in my ef an a b16a2 in my eg i can tell you that they are night an day i find that with the b16 pulls all the way to 120 for me but you have to redline all the gears an stay in the vtec range I would get the b16 if you wanted all out speed but to me the b18a is more fun for tearing up the redlights an not worry bout getting caught doing 120 in a 55 also my b18a gets better gas mileage

btw, LS/VTEC is NOT a simple bolt on process. it is rather hard to do it the right way.

Thats because its the ls tranny with there long gears. Anyways yeh b16 is good at top end and ls motor is good at bottom end but sucks at top end. Like Jmunk says it depends on what ur lookin for. Hp or torque?

The latest issude of Honda Tuner has a How-To on the LS/VTEC thing, it is not an easy thing, machining is needed.

The b16 would win at the 1/4 mile. THe ls would take off on the line but thats about it.

Fuck, the B18A has like 15 more lbs-ft. of torque than the B16.. The B16 isn't torqueless.. Sure, it doesn't make much power in the low RPM, but when you're racing with a B16 your revs aren't going to be dropping any lower than 6000 anyway, so who cares about torque?!

B16 would be the faster motor. B18 would be better if you want to pull a trailer or something.

The B18A is a nice motor, I like them.. But don't start to compare them to a B16A.
