Go for the Z4

Your Z3 is very nice. Keep it if you can because I think it will be a collectors in years to come, but try to also get the Z4. The Z4 is all around a better car.

I didn't see. What engine do you have? 1.8, 1.9, 2.3, 2.5, 2.8??? I recommend you test drive the Z4. It is the best handling car I've ever owned or driven! The chassis doesn't give unlike the E30 of the Z3 and the technology and materials are top notch. If you don't have the money for a Z4 now, that is probably better because when you do, the Z4 will have made improvements undoubtedly, such as with the side bolstering of the seats and pull-out thigh supports, etc.

You would dump your Z3 for the Z4? Be a two-timer, keep the Z3 and just wait and save for the Z4!

Just curious, how would you spec out your Z4? What color combinations? Are you going to be the first (and only) to pick that ugly army green color?

both of those colors are very nice. i wanted mine black with a beige interior and top and with the wood, but they couldn't 'locate' one. what else would you spec? i'm going through a little bit of buyer's remorse. i bought a 2.5i loaded and now i'm thinking i could've lived without all the bells and whistles and should've gotten the 3.0i. it comes with a lot of standard equipment anyway. i paid $42K for a 2.5 and that would've put me in a 3.0 stock. just thought i'd give my 2 cents incase it's something you're contemplating. when do you think you'll make the big purchase? i can't wait to see what you end up getting! good luck!

ya, i am deciding on the 2.5 or the 3.0. I have to test drive both first. Put i might get the 3.0 6spd MT. Also fully loaded. And this will happen by the summer i hope because, by then i hopfully will have paid down the loan i have right now on my Z3

Well, shoot, if you get a loaded 3.0i then there should be no question at all about trading in your 2.3 Z3! I never tested the 3.0, but every article I read giving the Z4 accolades is after driving the 3.0 not the 2.5. The 2.5 is pretty much ignored. Have you read about the way the sound engineers created an engine "subwoofer" that passes infront of the driver's pedal well to give a sense of the power? How cool is that? I hope you get it! That'll be awesome! One other note - if you haven't considered getting the DVD navigation system, you really should. It serves as more than a navigation system. You can equalize your music and it is also used to locate you to emergency services in case you're in trouble. It's very cool.
