So my 3 day weekend turned into a 4 day weekend

But not in a good way. I went to leave for work this morning and my green beast would not start. So I check the starter wire, check codes, etc. The car was acting the way it did when the coil pack was bad. The motor turned over but the motor wouldnt start up and run. So after checking all possibilities I call in to work, then call Alex. We took the coil pack (my original one) to autozone and it tested fine. Bought a spark tester, tested plugs n wires, fine. So my next thought was the camshaft position sensor, and Alex thought of the crankshaft position sensor...which upon checking, was coated in oil...from the HG leaking and oil running off the back of the motor etc...so Alex cleaned the sensor hoping that was all it needed. Still no go. So after trying other crap we finally bit the bullet and bought both the crank and camshaft positions sensors....turned out it was the camshaft, but we decided that the money was well spent since the crankshaft pos. sensor could go at anytime too. The sad thing is I started the car yesterday and moved it with no problem. Today it just wouldnt. I guess this is my punishment for not taking my car out all weekend. So that was day 4 of my weekend. Good thing this happened this morning and not at school later on tonight

Sorry to hear about the problems - glad you guys were able to take care of it. Otherwise it would have been a ten day weekend at the shop.

Dang, that sucks. I hate it when something like that happens at a bad time. Good that you got it fixed and replaced another part that could be a problem soon.

Aww c'mon and show a little love for the green beast will ya??? Yogs is right, it probably would have been a 10 day weekend at the shop. My guess is I would have spent about $300-500 had I put it in the shop. Figuring labor, diagnostic fees, the sensors and give or a take a few "extra" parts I wouldn't need. Plus they would have left something not connected causing my car to run badly and costing another trip to the shop. Ahh the joys of knowing your car and people who can help you fix it when its broken

$100 spent and peace of mind > $300-500 spent and a few more gray hairs and ulcers
