Something a little obscure; Here is the gift I built for someone for Christmas

Here is the model I built for my brother for Christmas. It is supposed to be an exact replica of his real life car. Unfortunately for me, he has alot done to his car. The hardest thing I had to do was to build an accurate roll cage from under the dashboard to the rear hatch of the car and behind the seats, and have all the bends look convincing. I also installed a ford 9" rear (like his car) from a stock car. Suspension parts like stabalizer bar, control arms, panhard bar, subframe connectors, and driveshaft loop were scratchbuilt. It was converted from stick to automatic, and the intake which in his car is similar to an LT1, was a modified piece from a Camaro. Detail master nitrous lines, braided hoses, and fuel lines were added. The exhuast, which on his car is four friggin inches in diameter, was bent from aluminum. The Y-pipe was also scratch built, and headers were added from another kit. Duplicolor was used for the finish. YOU HAVE TO USE DUPLICOLOR!!! Little items like fuel pressure gauges, chrome B&M shifter, nitrous pressure gauges, a giant tach with warning light, and fire extinguisher were added from the parts box. The original kit was a Anniversery edition trans am. His real life car is a `87 Firebird GTA.

That's gonna make an awesome present. Continually impressed with the finish you get, what grit do you sand with, what compound do you use?

Thanks guys. This is how I painted it. All duplicolor was used. I primered the body as usual, but used white primer. I srayed about 7 thin color coats, followed by 7 clear coats an hour or so later. I let it dry and wetsanded with 2000 grit. I then sprayed 7 more coats of clear, and allowed it to dry again. I wet sanded with 2000 grit, and then rubbed it out with 3M fine cut compound. To finish, I rubbbed it out with Tamiya compound which is apparently a little finer cut. I polished it with Zaino!

Very nice paintjob and a clean build. I'm impressed as hell with the Dulpicolor (I use it too). Did you also use Duplicolor clear as well?
Great job,
Bill
