You'll definitely need a new ECU as the factory computer is very capable of cancelling out any modification effects especially in the MY01.

A manual WRX with a bigger fuel pump, rising rate pressure regulator, stock turbo boosted to 17psi, cold air intake and custom tuned ECU can do 12s easily. (Now watch your gearbox and clutch)

You'll need to run it on fuel with at least 96RON, however. So, octane booster may be needed.

Forget 12s. Go for 11s Very easy in a WRX.
Big front mount intercooler
Ball bearing turbo
3" mandrel bent exhaust
Fuel mods mentioned above (bigger in tank pump, surge tank, Bosch motorsports pump, bugger fuel lines) etc AND bigger injectors
Brass Button Clutch
Reprogrammed ECU
External wastegate
6 speed dog-box

Now your running 11s. Easy. The price IN AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS would be around $12,000-$15,000. Good bang-for-your-buck.

11s are easy to get into once or twice for $10K but it will cost at least $15k to keep it there. A quality dogbox that will actually be able to take that kind of torture will cost you at least $9000. trust me it is alot harder to get there than you think. If you are actually going to attempt this then dont listen to a single person on this website. Call cobb tunning, JUN, MRT, or any of the reputable tunners that can be found at the i-club.com. This website is full of novice tunners and can't be trusted. not even me

Actually, Rigoli Racing has a white WRX doing 8 second ETs now. It's the fastest one in Australia and incidently outside Japan. I can strongly recommend MRT Online Performaqnce or TOny Rigoli to do a top quality job at a fair price.

If you're going to inform these people of goings on in Aust. you should get your facts straight.

The fastest time for an AWD is 10.01 @ 143mph, someone was on the ball before in this thread. This time also makes the above mentioned WRX the fastest in the world. The car is actually not a WRX, but an Impreza I believe, and the car has since been dismantled and the motor in another true WRX.

Rigoli's have had the most experience with EJ's pushing the limits yes, but their prices for similar mods to your beast would surprise you I think!

Check your facts. The last race I have read reports on was the white Rigoli WRX (OK - so it IS a hybrid) was running mid 9s at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland and with a month more tuning was expecting high 8s. That was January. So I guess I did assume, but I'll post the 9 second ET if I can find it.

FACT: The white Rigoli Impreza is the fastest AWD Impreza in the world. He made a pass of 10.01 @ 143 mph in January 2001 at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland. I saw that pass.

FACT: That car was dismantled nearly a year ago, the motor put into a blue MY99 WRX that has run a best ET of 10.6/ 10.4.

FACT: The reference to a 9 second Brumby in the latest Hot 4's is to a Brumby that has currently run a best ET of 10.4 and has the potential to run 9's with the estimated power using Nitrous Oxide.

Note the word 'potential'.

FACT: You could have not read about Rigoli's white WRX running 9's with potential for 8's at WIllowbank Raceway in January 2002. This car does not exist anymore, it was dismantled last year!!

Please post the '9 second ET', but I can guarantee that you will not find any.

Sorry to write a long post but your sources are wrong.
