I was wondering if anyone ever considered what to do to keep your built models in case of a fire. I am looking at my collection here, and wondering how would ever replace some of the kits I have here, much less all the time put in to them.
Has anyone done anything to protect their work in case of a fire? |

insurance doesn't cover "sentimental" value. and a lot of companies don't find it their business to insure "toys" (as much as i hate to say, yes that's what they are usually considered).
i suppose if you could get a display case made of thick glass, with a steel base, the model would be fairly safe, at least from direct flame, but not heat

I want to keep them on display, but I know these little thin plastic cases wont protect from much more than dust.

Its often a question i ask also...fire, earthquake etc.
I have insurance but as TheSyndicate said it's the"sentimental" value which you cant replace. I guess to get something made to with stand a fire would look pretty ugly standing in your home

Just don't play with fire and make sure nobody else does in you house.
The other thing you can only do is hope for the best. When bad things are going to happen they're going to happen.

the way I see it is that I get the most enjoyment out of making the models. If they were to get destroyed then I would start again nd make them even better than they are now.
There isn't really any sentimental value in any of the kits I have done so again that is not really a factor |

Well, I would hate to lose something like Hawk's Eleanor. That kind of model just doesn't rebuild itself.

but models could be saved..and for some people (like apartment dwellers or dorm ppl) modeling costs way more than their housing..(like on a monthly basis )
