sterio stuff with my camaro

Hi, i have a 96 Camaro with the stock sterio head and cd player. I am trying to hook up an amplifier to it. The amp has 2 rca cables, and a blue power wire that needs to hook up into the amp. I have no idea on what color wires I'm suppose to splice into. Any help would be great.

That aughta help you out pretty good. I believe it's the OEM colors you are looking for.

Now for my two cents. We tried what you are looking to do with a 1999 Chevy Tahoe. We installed the amp using speaker leads from the deck, coupled to RCA cables. It WORKS, but you run the risk of blowing up the amp because their is more power going through the high gain speaker leads than conventional low gain RCA leads from a deck. Your best bet would be to get a new deck, and go from there. And, I don't believe stock GM decks HAVE a remote lead =\. So you'll need to manually turn on and off the amp via a disconnect switch, or pulling the plug.

Also, I'm not sure about older Camaros (I have a 2001), but some have the monsoon sound system. Which sucks total and complete ass. It's a proprietary amp and speaker set up. I had this in my car, had to bypass the amps altogether just to install new speakers. I've yet to even find where they are hehe. Anyways, Sound systems in Camaros are a bitch...have fun!

Yep. Am experimenting in the third gen. to see what I want in the '01 Z28 when I get back. For now, the factory in the Z is ok. I am a total car audio noob. Right now, I got an Alpine CDM7857 and have to cut wires, etc. since the last owner did that to put a tape deck in it. Also, there is an old amp in there that will get replaced some time.

I do have a question though. On the '01, are there any speakers to replace the ones in the very back in the hatch area? I know, people say to ditch them. But I would like to be immersed in sound. I don't do the "sound stage" up front or anything. I want sound all around.

I heard that the ones in the back are basically very small subs or something. If I can get something better for those spots, let me know. If I can save space without getting a sub or something, I am interested. If not then I will go with the stealth boxes then.

I think the speakers in the rear are 4x10"s...But I REALLY don't know. My camaro is a convertable. Alls I got are 4 6-1/2"s. Well, that AND a 10" sub in the trunk now . I'll try to find you a link to see what's in your car...One of my buddies knows but he's not around right now.

A tape deck??? What's that?
