Experience with Gude?

I talked with Bill today and both he and his secretary (wife?) were very helpful and nice on the phone and he even gave me his cell for any more questions I might have, so here's the question...

I think I have decided to send them the head off my H22 for port/match/polish and valvetrain. They have a "special" right now and the shipping is "free", so it would cost me $1450 total. I have heard nothing but good things about this guy and his work, but was wondering if anybody here actually has personal experience either with this headwork or any other stuff (cams, TB, etc) and can comment on the power increase, reliability, and how smooth or irritating said increase is when put back in the car.

He is aware that Golden Eagle (apparently "right down the street") will be doing a sleeve and 3mm overbore (out to 90mm) and that it will be TCd and says he "does it all the time for this engine". Again, I'm sure he's quite good, I'm just trolling for 1st hand stories, good or bad.

THX

I have not had any work from them, however this guy who owns a shop in Fayetteville, GA sent a b16a1 head to them and he said that it leaked oil bad and he had nothing but problems with it and put a stock head back on and it ran fine. It was a ls/vtec integra, he ran 14's with the GUDE head and he broke low 13's with the stock head! The motor was built also and had a 100 hp shot. But the bottom end was the same in both cases. I also had a guy who works at nopi who said that Gude screwed up a head for him as well. IMO I would find out all I could if I was you.

Re: Experience w/ Gude

Just ordered the head package from Gude for my Prelude H23a ..
...Wondered if you might have gotten yours back yet...And, If so...Your feedback as to the reality of a stated increase in up to 40 - 50 HP from the edition of the package.
Any feedback appreciated
Thx

gude is a good company. a guy on my team has a completely worked gude head on his gsr and its working fine. if you have the resources and money, a custom job will usually work better tho

You do gain some good horses from Gude but I know a shop that can get you more horses out of your head then Gude can because Gude works fast on their heads. http://www.speedmachineracing.com does head work at a cheap price and it will do a much better job.
