Question How many people here actually build models?!

And if so do you actually enjoy building them?! If you've read some of the posts here, you'd see my point

I build models and reasonably enjoy the process. Some parts are more boring/tedious than others (masking, bare metal foil), but offset by stuff I like (bodywork, paint). Modeling can be a joy, it can also be a pain in the butt. I like seeing the finished project, but always am ready to rip into the next one. Glutton for punishment? Who knows...

I ignore the drama queen armchair critics as much as possible. If they want my respect, show me an accomplishment worth earning it. That might even boost their tremendously low self-esteem. Then again, I'm not holding my breath.

Red face

Yeah I build models, I wouldn't be on this forum if I didn't......and I enjoy building them, every kit I buy is because it is a car I want to see finished on my shelf.....this results in major stress when choosing the next kit to build as I want to build them all!!!

Armchair critics? My armchair is used for storage.....lol.....the couch on the other hand......

I agree with you though Antonio, there are a lot of people on here that seem more talk than build....I guess I can be included in that too at times.....

In light of the comment at the beginning of the thread, I'm taking this slightly out of context as an opportunity to remind ALL the members of AF that they can absolutely >_IGNORE_< any other member that they feel imposes of their experience here. I encourage you to try it out and take advantage of it, if necessary...

And for those of you that can't remember the last time I actually worked on a model, I'll have you know last night I prepped and primered another kit. :finger:

Yes, I build models. It would be rather pointless being on this Forum if I didn't.

I can honestly say I enjoy it, as I find it a nice calming escape from the pressures of normal everyday life...plus I can own cars I can never ever afford in this life anyway. OK, so they're 24 times smaller, but I still got one!

I agree that a stubborn decal can cause extra stress, but if you get it right, the satisfaction is priceless. :smoker2:

Watcha' workin' on Jay?

As for the subject of the post, I do build models and usually get some satisfaction from the finished product. Although I do tend to ruin it for myself by agonising over every flaw

I've built 7 kits now since I took the hobby up again, but only 2 since discovering AF. Thanks to the FAQ and the advice from the forum these last 2 are much better than my previous work

Well now, that's a handy feature that will certainly be worth it's weight in gold

Thanks for the heads-up! And get to work on that model!

My in-progress list:

Tamiya Mazda Rx-7 (FB) Savanna Sunroof Limited. [back to primer]
Hasegawa Subaru WRX Wagon [waiting until I feel like polishing... :o]
Fujimi Mercedes SL500 Open [started primer last night]

I love working on them when I don't have a deadline! That was one of the problems with the Mustang I had, I had to finish it in 2 weeks and it kinda took the fun out of it. I wasn't really rushing on it but my mind was setup to "just finish it" and not have fun building it. This is also the first kit I have seriously worked on too. I had an Integra but that was before I was really looking on here, but once I'm done with the stang I will finish up with that integra.

Oh yeah, once I had realized I wouldn't make the deadline due to fitment and paint issues I just said I would give it to my friend later and work on it when I can....well when I started doing that I started fixing old problems that I had and it was a lot more fun . Once I get back home(I'm at college right now) I'm going to finish it up!!

[Didn't want to bring it up to college since some pieces had broke and were missing when I brought it back home ]

I build models, but I haven't shown much evidence of it lately (or ever for that matter). I like to go at my own pace with models (Ray, keep to comments to yourself :finger: ).

So, yes, I do.
