Question VQ30 Power Potential

How much power can the VQ engine take stock, is it strong or weak. Would nitrous without building the internals kill it. I know the Nissans SR20 engines can handle alot of abuse stock, but I have'nt heard much about the VQ30 engines.:sun:

From my research, the stock engine and internals can handle up to 500 hp and it would be safe to run around an 80 shot using the dry kit of n20.

Just from my research, you may want to look a lil further into this.

I was thinking more around the lines of 400-450 horses. It MAYBE could handle 500 horses.

My sources said that on stock it could handle in the area between 400-500, so you're right around the target area, strengthening the internals will net you even more gains, so technically the VQ is a very strong engine on stock internals alone, not exactly Suprastrong but strong nevertheless.

That's a good question, hmmm, I don't know, maybe you should've started this as a thread, I'm sure you would've got a lot of differences in opinions but I'd personally would say the 300 because stock for stock the VQ in Nissans tend to make more low-end and possibly overall torque than the 2JZ-GTE, plus I'm a lil bias ( I own and love Nissans).

It will handle about 400-450hp for a day or so depending on how you drive and how much boost, what the fuel set up is, etc...every car is different, some might only handle 300hp and not be tuned or driven right and pop.

Even if the engine can handle 500 HP, the transmission sure as all hell won't. You'd need a serious tranny upgrade for that. I think around 300hp, you're flirting with tranny destruction in the Maxima.
