I think Vortech makes a good product, actually better than the Jackson Racing manifold replacement. Of course the all tell-tale downside of the S/C is the belt. The belt automatically produces a load on your motor. They're upgradeable to put out more boost, but in the long run, a turbo will be able to net more power and more efficiently. The upside to the S/C is that the power is immediate, no lag and minor spool time.
I'm not sure on the advertised gain of the Vortech, but it's probably more than the Jackson racing. I believe there's an inter- or after-cooler option for the Vortech.

The vortech s/c was tested last year on a civic si, 2000 model i believe... it was dynoed pre-s/c at about 145hp, after the s/c was installed, power was boosted to 277hp output. This is actually the engine and s/c i'm installing into my 96 ek hatch.

do those numbers fill your cracks?
i would compare the hp of the supercharger to the turbo keeping it in the limit your willing to spend, thata way you wil be able to make a more informed desicion<-----spell check

I am not a huge fan of super chargers, and I am by no means an expert. As if you can't tell, I'm a turbo guy. I don't know too much about the companies manufacturing them either. I do know how they work and what not, and I also do know that Vortech and Roots make some of the better blowers out there.

Thumbs down vortech sux

i read in a honda tuner mag. where they put one on a integra gsr and ran a 14.9 @96.8 mph and for a retail price of around $2,900 I say keep that money save a little longer and buy a DRAG , fmax, or revhard turbo and really get your moneys worth.

Wouldn't a GSR run faster than that stock?

Interested to see that article. Absolutely HORRID times for a supercharged GSR. Either you misread or that car was having some serious issues. That's definately not the norm. Seen an otherwise stock GSR pull a 14.1 with the Vortec kiton stock boost

First of all 14.9 is very slow for supercharged gsr.
I voted for the vortech is a POS because well... I like Vortech they make very good products but their supercharger is a "centrifugal supercharger" so you might as well get a turbo (my opinion), but hey what do I know? I'm only 14... (I know alot):licker:

Did you read the rest of the article though? The camber was off=less traction, heavy speaker box in back=pulling weight off the front, cheap tires=shittay traction

Yea, that's pretty much horrible. Almost less than HALF a second off of the stock times. You could run that with boltons Vortec import chargers must be worlds apart from their domestic offerings. I've been thinking about going with a Vortec charger for a while now. Probably won't though because of the cost, but the gains are terrific.

Hahah, well glad to know I have your approval if I decide to do it in the future. Probably won't though...I'm a nitrous guy, through and through. Looking for low 10s this season with a 250 shot
