Haven't heard any news, but I'd sure like to see Tamiya do the RX8.

I want one too, but there are many other cars I'd put in front of it if it were my choice. This car must not be very popular in the home market, or the 350Z has stolen the spot light, the 350Z kit was released before the real car.

Personally, I think it looks kind of ugly, not at all aggressive like the old RX-7. However, it'd be absolutely frickin' awesome if Tamiya did the car with engine detail. Hmm...Renesis rotary drops into the old FD?

It's definitely not meant to be a direct replacement for the RX7. They're trying a different market, and the price is significantly lower as well, 25-30K, which is a lot less than the RX7's were even 10 years ago. Personally I like the design and concept, an everyday coupe doesn't have to be an all-out sports car, and it simply looks like no other car out there. There probably will be a high-performance 2 seater based on this car that will be the RX7 replacement, though. And the next Miata's on this platform too.

I predict that Tamiya will produce this. Lets wait and see!

Shall we run a sweepstake?

HOPE tamiya will!!!

as for the replacement for the RX7, mazda is planning to produce it if the RX8 reaches their potential sales goal.

Tamiya's NSX kit hadn't been announced until the real car arrived at the dealers. The RX-8 hasn't been aggressively marketed yet, and that's Mazda's strategy. But the car seems to have more value than the 350Z, and I'm sure it would sell more than they expected.

Not aggressive?
How about RX-8 Mazdaspeed Concept?

I think Tamiya will make it, but with closed hood, and open doors for 2200 yen, due April. (just my pure guess)
Tamiya's next new kit announcement is Jan. 31.

Mazdaspeed=rocks my socks. Now that's an RX8.

When Tamiya does this kit, FOTW has yet another project to get out in short order.

Holy crap, the addition of just a spoiler improves the looks by a factor of 100. I always felt it needed a wing, but now that it has one it couldn't look better. My hat tipped off to Mazdaspeed
