How to pronounce decal
Do you pronounce decal with a short e, a long e, or an accent, as in daycal (which is how I say it). Just curious

Silly ausie.
Its a short e. with a long al. dec-al I think the yanks say decal all short, sort of like speckle with a d.

This is an international forum so I suspect there is going to be a very wide variation in pronunciation.
Personally I've always said 'dee-cal', so I guess that is a long e. |

it is a long e sound everytime i have heard it dee- cal and according to dictionary.com it is this like i say ithttp://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=decal

Hey...if you want to really confuse the issue....
I am British born, lived in South Africa and now live in America....and I pronounce it dee-cal....can't say I've heard it pronounced any other way either.... Ray

I guess we have to say Al-you-min-eeyum, because it's spelt aluminium, not aluminum
