Lightbulb Help!!!! I Need My Integra To Go Faster!!!

here's my problem,
i tricked out my 97 integra hatch manual
and promptly got my ass handed to my by a mustang GT, twice.
so now i need to go faster

here are my options that i know of

1. LS/VTEC
2. GS-R USDM
3.b-18 c-5 JDM (yes the JDM type R)
4.b-18 c-1 JDM (JDM GS-R)
5. B-20
6. h-22a JDM/USDM ( i believe this is a prelude motor and i have no idea if this would work)

i want a car i can drive daily and still be fast without having it turbo or supercharged and keeping it left hand drive
if i can't beat the mustang i want to at least give him a challenge
please give me advice, it will be greatly appreciated

johnny

Drop in USDM GSR engine then get Spoon Sports or Jun Racing Stage 2 NA kit. You will smoke anything.

Throw a gsr motor and build up your head with skunk2 (cheaper) with stage 2 cams. Upgrade your fuel injectors, fuel rail, and fuel pump.

Question USDM or JDM GS-R?

so which would it be?

a USDM GS-R or a JDM GS-R?

from what i've seen in my friends civic h/b he has a JDM GS-R and is pushing almost 200hp after some exhaust and engine mods. and consistently beats the crap out of everyone of the westbank who runs a USDM GS-R.

although i have loooked into it at several local chop....er....body shops
i have recieved mixed answers, some refuse to do a JDM engine swap citing that i would have immedate problems in performance and that it wouldn't be worth it, other have told me to go with it.

which one would work best in terms of maintence reliability?

much thanks

Either engine requires similar maintenance and are extremely reliable, like all Honda twin cams. They are basically the same engine except for some cam profiling and fuel maps and compression and stuff. So it doesn't matter. BTW, I don't know what was going on above, but keeping your Honda engine NA under 220hp, there is no fucking way you need to upgrade your fuel system. Get which ever engine is cheaper then work it.

No, actually it serves absolutely no purpose at all unless going Forced Induction. There is still no pressure on the manifold above atmospheric.

Ok? So why do they sell fuel pumps for? Surely it goes for both N/A and FI! It just the specs u gotta look at. Certain pumps are for certain set ups. Same goes with the injectors. Upgrading fuel is just not for FI only.

Yeah - bigger fuel pumps on NA cars are for one thing - making money from people like you.

Don't buy mods that you don't need people.

it really depends on what your budget is. yes i would say a b20 vtec would kill the mustang but its not exactly a reliable setup no matter what anyone says. the same goes with ls vtec. its great but not meant to be that way. i have about 5 friends with ls vtec and they all love the power WHEN IT WORKS. i would day to go with a turbo for a few reasons. im assuming you have a b18b or a . either is good for turbocharging because they are relatively cheap and have low compression. with a turbo setup on your car even running low boost you could beat the mustang and still have a more reliable car than any vtec conversion would be. not to mention a turbo setup would cost less then a full engine swap. but if you really want to swap im assuming the type r engine is a little too expensive for the average person. so if you are going to be modding the hell out of a gs-r engine it doesnt matter which one you get usdm or jdm. if you switch the cams and get a chip you've already taken away the advantage the jdm has over the usdm. and with either engine you can reliably make 220hp NA but it will take some money. i think thats covers enough for now but in case, any more questions?????

OK? If you upgrade into bigger cams its gonna require more fuel! Even for turbo kits. Why do u think they recommend upgrading ur fuel pump while goin turbo? Sure don't upgrade ur fuel...let ur engine suffer.

No worries Mellowboy. You go right on ahead and buy your bigger fuel pump. I hope your engine thanks you for it.

Why do I bother?
