Pissed about rice?

Im getting pissed off with these guys that hink any car that has a body kit on it is rice. But if it a skyline or rare jap super car with a body kit from a tunning company that is owned by the maker of the car, they think it looks cool- think of this Civic with Black widow kit? Or factory kit?

Rice really refers more to the owner than the car.


If the driver says that his kitted Civic will smash any thing it's rice.

cars look better stock imo. Its its a FWD car with a big gaudy double decker wing in the back (or on the hatch, if it's a hatch back-even better! ) Then it's rice. If it has 2 foot tall writing on the side that tells the whole world it has a different valve timing system that doesnt give it that much more power, it's rice. If it has .com stickers, or "R" anything that doesnt belong to it, it's rice.

If it's a Mustang GT-R with japanese writing on it and has an "exhaust system" and a turbo rotary engine with pistons and everything, its DEFINETLEY RICE!!! (i hope someone gets this)

I agree with you, supra, people shouldn't say anything is rice. I strongly disagree witht the other two of you who replied. There is no such thing as rice. I think what you mean are followers and posers. And thats a different story...

Rice; Allow me to provide a few definitions:

Rice: Putting a triple-decker, FUGLY-ass wing on your FWD vehicle. Congratulations @H, you've just increased your drag coefficient drastically while making yourself look STUPID.

Rice is a cereal crop.To a very small percentage of the population it is also a derogatory term.Whether it is a term to describe the modifications to a car,or the concept behind the modifications to the car,or the manner in which the car is used is hotly debated among the auto fraternity.The other 99% don't give a shit.
Most people have no idea that there is a second definition to the word.Asignificant proportion of the world's population have never seen a'riced' car.

But anyway, Rice is - I think - best understood as the process of trying to make a (Japanese) car look like something it's not - generally a JGTC car; hence the stickers, big wings, bonnet pins and scoops etc... The important point though, is that the car actually doesn't live up to the look. A very common example would be putting GTR badges on your non-GTR Skyline. Now, if you have stuck a GTR drivetrain (or at least the engine) into a non-GTR Skyline, I personally wouldn't call a GTR badge rice, cos you have the parts in/on the car to justify it.

Some people just call any Japanese car Rice. Really they're just trying to run Japanese cars down, so I tend to ignore their ignorance.

Of course it's not just Japanese cars that people do this to, so we have coined other terms: well one anyway: Spud - meaning American cars trying to look like something they aren't. I would also include Aussie Fords/Holdens. So an example is a plain vanilla old Commodore (don't know the model) with a fake Walkinshaw kit on it. = Spud.

I reckon other carbohydrate names could be applied to similarly messed-up cars from other countries. For example: "Pasta" could refer to an Italian car that''s been "riced" (or "Pasta'd" )

I think his mazda rx7 looks hot. There is one of the few cars that doesn't need to look riced to add some flava to it. i don't know where you get ugly. Many probably think it looks better than that black honda.

supra tuner arent u like 15? ? ? why are u worrying about someone calling stuff rice ??


i would say anything that isnt F1 or anything like that and has hood pins is rice..i mean if u have THAT much power under there than u should convert ur hood cuz hood pins sheer off but no car with under like 1000 hp will make a hood latch break...so hood pins = rice
