whats the fastest youve gone in your automatic(ive got a 97) before any mods? is thim gonna race my frend wth a 2001 gts stick but hes nto so good with stick yet so i think i can take him. Is the 2nd gear start til 30 mph the fastest? anyone know any good speed tips for the automatic?

Can't really recommend any speed tips, but the fastest I've gone in my 3rd Gen was 130mph. On bad tires!!! In the rain!! At night!! And passing trucks!!!

speed tips...hmmm...jam on the gas at the line, use the auto's jump there to get a quick lead (especially if your friend isn't good with stick) and make sure your overdrive button is pushed in!

fastest i've been in my max (96gle, auto, no mods) was 125 up in canada. someone in a civic started annoying me so i toyed with him for a little while (paced him on the highway) and then got sick of it and just jammed down on the gas, overdrive kicked in, and i was gone.

You can power brake start. Simply hold the brake pedal down and press the gas just enough but not more than what the brakes can handle. Keep the rpms up and when the light turns green, you should already have the jump. Simply floor it then. It should give you a few seconds on him and depending on your skill, you could take him.

On automatic transmisson you have the following P=PARK, R, N, D,1,2 in that order. First try shift to 1 and step on the gas pedal hard and when you hear your sream hard, this is the time to shift it to 2 and when you hear the engine max out it power . Finally you move it to D. This way you will launch your Max really fast.

ohh come on.....u can take on a gts...!...well just for precaution..u should do this....it wont harm n e part of ur car!...i do this on a weekly bases...first...turn traction control off....turn od off, and put into 1st gear....then just like DVSN said...press on the brake and the gas at the same time....when u launch, u`ll be spinning a bit, but not for long.....and u`ll need the spin, cuz to keep the RPM up...and simply shift at 6200~6300RPM to 2nd gear...and 6400~6500RPM
to 3rd....the rev limiter limits @ 6700RPM, so the tranny will have just enough time to shift...i`m pretty sure u wont need 4th gear...
...if u need it..shift at around 6000 RPM....cuz on my car...3rd @ 5600RPM is already 180km/h.....be safe...!!! ..aaand...last but not least...turn audio off and a/c off..!!!a must!

I am a pro in my 97 GLE, i can beat anything of an equal car. First thing to do is

roll up allll the windows
turn heater on full blast before you race.
radio off, uses energy
put in d2, over drive off
turn heater off
hold brake and press gas to about 2000 rpm
light turns green jam gas drop brake (at same time of course)
and when your car hits 30mph in first, go from the 2 to the D, i heard it helps but you can just leave it in d if you prefer
usually that will get you winning

oh yeah my top speed was about 130 @ 4000 rpm with over drive on, off it was redlining, but pussy granny car limiter stopped me from seeing what it could do =(

i got my rx300 doing about 125 but limited, its ok, i could kill my self going to fast =P
