So my old man used to own a boat, and consequently faced a number of situations where it was necessary for him to mold fiber glass for various things.
I've talked to him about how to do it, and it seems simple enough, a lot like bondo except you have greater control over the drying time depending on how much catylist you add. Question is (and I think I should post in the body forum too) any one ever made anything this way? Me thinks if its not too ridiculously expensive ( I guess the stuff does get pricy ) or difficult, I may look into building body kits of sorts - theres quite a market for them here in Y-town. Lemme know, your experience and insight is always apreciated -wheel

Good idea, plus you make money on the side as well. There's definitely a market for it, and you can easily switch to other uses for fiber glass if ever the market slows down. On a side note, has anyone tried aluminum in place of carbon fiber for their hood? Saw an article where the new Ferrari, or at least a prototype Ferrari, has an aluminum body. Might be worth checking out, as aluminum can be painted to match the body color, unlike carbon fiber.

welp, I sent a PM to ci5ic, we'll seee.
Im wondering if there is a certain type of screen or other material that may be better to build a body kit from that is easier to mold, or if there are better (or specific) types of fiberglass for this stuff? Im kinda hoping someone will help me cheat on my homework here. Im planning a ton of stuff for as soon as it gets warmer, wheew. BTW, aluminum - light, paintable, however, can be very strong or very week depending on the grade you get or your ability to weld cross members. Also, aluminum is a bitch to cut and weld - A BITCH! lemme tell you about my custom short shift, regular kit, aluminum bar, but I cut it down so it sits only about 5 inches high. lemme tell you about cutting, grinding, then threading aluminum....avoid it. have someone do it. just my $.02 -wheel
