V6 conversion

Would it be possible to swap a v6 accord engine (isnt the code j30?) into a 98 accord? Would it require customization or is it a perfect swap?

Honda 99 has is right. Forget your question and take the suggestion. You would also out perform the V6 if that's what you care about. The V6 would be a waste of time and money IMO. Sorry that this doesn't answer your question.

2002 accord V6 (J30A1) EX sedan rated at 200HP @ 5500 rpm & 195 ft-lbs @ 4700rpm and its weight is 3329lbs (heaviest accord). FYI 2002 accord I4 EX sedan weight is 3075lbs.

2001 Prelude SH (H22A1) rated 200hp @ 7000rpm & 156 ft-lbs @ 5250rpm and its weight is 3042 lbs.

as you see horse power is same but from J30 engine pick comes much earlier, plus additional 39ft-lbs of torque is very helpful on heavy accord. other thing J30 run on 87 octain gas when H22 requires premium. so J30 is outperforming H22 in every category exept transmission, its avalable only with automatic transmission. custom swap to manual (legend tranny) runs about $7.5K, very inefficient mod.

now about engine swap; since V6 engine located on passenger side when I4 (F23 & H22) located on driver side, because of that you have to replace every thing in engine including all crossmemebers. that will cost a ton of money. on top of that handling of car will go down due to heavier engine.

so H22 is much more efficient swap for car that already has I4 engine in it.

i have the same question. The thing is I have a auto trans accord. I was thinking about swapping to h22a but if i wanted to, i need to get the 5spd swap done too. All this would be a bitch and would cost me at least 10 grand or more. If its possible to get the v6 engine swap then i could go straight to the comptech supercharger and go from there. Theres no point in getting a h22a swap with automatic cuz then u can't do jack shit to it, or anything that'll give you that major boost in power.

Why would you get a 4cyl over a v6?

If you plan on building your engine get the V6, it has way more potential. The 4cyl Accord and the v6 are the same car all you will have to do is change the mounts. As far as the AT goes you can swap a 03 CL - s 6 spd into it, forget about the legend trans it doesnt even sit the same way and you would have to do a ton of fabricating. If you swap a cls trans in you will need a stand alone ECU. It all depends what you want. Lots of people have H22's in thier accord but you are limited by it only having 4 cyl. Stock engine and a turbo you will make around 280 WHP. stock v6 with an SC and stand alone ECU you can make 400hp.

Yes!

The cl and the 6th gen accord are the same car they just have differents outsides and motors. The accord has a j30 and the CL-s a J32. All the mounts excpet for one trans mount can be used.

when I put the cl-s 6spd trans in my car it bolted right up and all the mounts worked except for one at the back of the trans. The CL mount is bigger has more parts and is stronger. There is a mount on the right sid eof the engine also this is different on the CL but the accord one works fine. I also used the honda axles and intermediate shaft. It's cool alot of the parts are the same and hav the same part number.

All you need is the motor ECU and trans.

Becuase I kept the j30 engine when I did the manual swap I had to get a stand alone ecu. I chose haltech and now my car makes over 300 at the wheels with 12 lbs of boost.
