Angry Monkey brakes !

Well, apparantly before I bought my car (last October) someone decided to work on teh brakes. They have been fine for the past year, i've swapped out the fluid to Motul 600 (works GREAT!). But lately my brakes have been acting weird, i just thought they hit the indicators. But today i pulled them apart, and it just seemed too easy, well it was. Someone decided they'd leave off all the shims, so the piston on teh caliper was pretty much resting on teh inside brake pad (and there is the marks to prove it). So, anyways, back go the brakes, and i'm gonna order all the shims and stuff tomorrow, and hopefully get them all on this weekend. What a pain in the ass. :zx11pisse :zx11pisse

OK how exactly are you supposed to change out the break fluid. I've heard that if you let any air into the master cylinder you've basically ruined it.

My friends car had some really black fluid so we decided to change some of it. We got a handled spray nozzle and shot most of the fluid into a jar. We removed most of the fluid in the resivour this way then just put in some now fluid.

How'd you do yours?

Nah, you haven't ruined it. You just need to bleed it if you've gotten too much in it.

When I change fluid, I just remove as much old fluid as I can and bleed out all the old fluid. It's not as annoying as it sounds. You can actually bleed out the old fluid pretty quickly.

Basically what you did, but then instead of just swapping the little bit of fluid in the resevior, go another step and bleed the brakes, making sure to refill the resevoir before it gets too low, cause if you let it run down too much then you get air in the system and then you gotta start all over again I think when i redid my fluid it took maybe 2/3 to 3/4 of a 500ml container (Motul 600) for the whole system (or at least the best i could get it). It's cheap, i think i paid $12.00 for the bottle, and it'll go quite a long ways too. Check yout local bike shops, that's where i found mine. Hope this helps
