Hi all. Lookin for some info on my new Corolla.

Hello all.
Im new to racing, seeing as how Ive only had a car for three weeks.
I know alot of friends who know what they're doing tho, and my dad is mad l337 when it comes to cars, so naturally, Im starting to get into it.

I have a 1990 Corolla, but Im not sure what type of Corolla it is.
It has an I4(duh) 1.6l 16v DOHC EFI.
Any light one could shed on the subject would be much welcome.
Also, any performance tips are welcome, seeing as how I just lost to my friends PoS (not sure what car he has, but its an old V6).

Also, a pretty general question: Does more displacement ALWAYS mean better performance?
IE: Will a V6 always beat an I4?

Remember, Im new to the sport, so pelase go slow w/ me =)

o&btw, Its definately a sport. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
Just lik espeedball

I'm guessing here, but your car is an AE92???

Hope you are not street racing, it's illegal you know

Cylinders and Displacement = Power and Speed?
Not always. It depends on many factors like traction, driver, road condition, blah blah blah

Can a I4 can beat a V6? hard to say with that little info

Wow, someone actually replied =)
Erm...
I went lookin for an MR2.
Found two.
First one was rusted, so forget that one.
The second one was $4500, which is WAY too much for a '90 NA, even if it is in good condition.

So Im considering two options:
Either look for a GTO or an old "muscle car" like my dad used to drive (lol), or spend the money to upgrade my corolla.
The stipulation is that it be a true sports car.
That means two seater, manual tranny, preferably mid/rear engine, and of course RWD.

Ive considered a few things on that second thought.
The first thing to be said is this: Im not getting nitrous.
I dont like nitrous.
Its like bringing a gun to a knife fight.
I dont like nitrous.
What I do like is a blower.
Blowers are probably the best one-shot mod you can make to a car, aside from throwing ina bigger engine.
I know someone who wants to sell a set of stock turbos from a Supra, so I may pick those up, pending whether or not they can be adapted to my corolla.
Additionally, Im looking around for larger engines that can be squeezed into my engine bay with a little moving around. (Relocate the battery and some of the other stuff that can be moved). Ive considered a 7A-G(T/Z)E, but If Im gonna go through the work (and money) to replace the engine, Id like to find something with a larger displacement, possibly even a V6 (if there are any that would fit).
Replacing a 1.6l with a 2.0l just isnt worth the work.
The ideal situation (which is not likely to ever occur) is that I can find an old Supra engine in working condition, and put turbos a/o a SC on it.
That would be a hell of a thing

Anyways, thats my two cents.
See you on main street

Hey man,
i got a 90' corolla too, man their the shit!!! as for your friend with the V6, sure he's got an edge on you but there's tons of things you can do that would blow him out of the water. Engine swat (mega cash) but if u find a supra engine that fits, you'll school him, or maybe find a custom turbo, (stage 3 min.) also don't forget the "cheap" i say cheap lightly, get things like exhaust, cold air intake, headers, etc..
ggod luck man
