building a D16Z6

I have a back up D16 that i gonna build to replace my stock D16 before i blow it up. I think im gonna go with 10.5:1 pistons and a little head work so proably closer to 11:1 C.R. Ok i would like to upgrade fuel delivery as well; adj. fuel pressure reg., fuel rail, in-tank fuel pump and larger injectors. I have a set of injectors from the DOHC VTEC prelude which i do believe have a higher flow rate than the other honda injectors. Will i need a piggy back computer or anything to control the larger injectors? Or will my chipped ECU still work since the inj. arent that much bigger?... thanx in advance...

I'm not sure but i think your stock injectors are 220 cc and the prelude injectors are 290cc. Not sure but i think this is correct. Have you thought about haveing some one program a chip exactly for your setup. I know shops here in ATL can do this.
Also I am not tring to put down on your stuff or anything , but if it was M e I would loose the zex kit and ge a wet kit. I have heard of a lot of ppl say that the dry kits can cause det. b/c of unequal dist. of the manifold, an dalso with a higher comp. ratio you will want a wet kit anyways.

Your injectors are 235cc. Use a V-FAC for fuel and vtec adjustability. You can use those injectors but their gonna have to be leaned out all along the RPM range. I'd use B16 rods along w/ 88-89 D16A1 pistons, their dirt cheap and they'll give ya a real nice C/R increase, around where your aiming but I'll double check. You can clean up the rods and shot-peen, but at least replace the rod bolts. the block will have to be notched to clear the rods And install a block guard that allows for good head surface cooling. Use a D16Y8 intake manifold and B/H series TB can be modifyed to fit. If you have money left over you could get involved w/head work and right now thats to much for me to type.

Hey man what's up I heard from a guy that has a ALL MOTOR D16z6 running 12.8 and he was saying not to use the block guards because they cause Egg Shaping in the top of the cylinder walls. Is this true?

was that guy reffering to a "ridge", it can form at the upper limit of ring travel and has nothings to do w/a block guard. Thats all I can think of, I haven't heard anything bad about a properly installed one. Theres a possibility that crappy ones that don't allow for proper cooling can affect things. An example of a good block guard it one that has numerous notches cut into it rather that little drilled holes. Otherwise install it when the engine is disassembled and hone the cylinder walls.
