To anyone who can help,
My 95 Max SE has been sitting in the garage for a few months. It was stolen and plundered back in September, I had a lapse in insurance coverage, and just barely saved enough money to get it running again. Proir to that I had no engine problems other than some slight hesitation when I punched the accelerator, and I am wondering how to remedy that as well. Also, I have an automatic tranny and when it shifted from first to second or second to third, I can't remember wich because it has been SO LONG SINCE I HAVE DRIVEN IT, but there would be sort of a ping or a knock when it would change gears and I am wondering what the deal with that is as well? Although the problem I have now is when I start it up it smokes a whole lot, when it didn't before, and it turns off and the check engine light comes on. Is it just because it has been sitting for so long and I need to change out the transmission fluid and engine oil and possibly add a cleaner for the fuel injection or is the problem a lot more serious? I am in desperate need of advice. Would cost too much to drop a new engine. Is an engine rebuild posible and worth the money or even necessary? How about the tranny, can it be rebuilt and is it possible, even necessary or worth the money or should I drop a new one? I am out on the west coast in LA if anyone knows of places that can help out in this end of the U.S. Last question... What are the best kind of shocks that I can get for a smooth & luxurious ride that fit the 95 Maxima SE? I would rather fix the problems before I start driving it again, so please help me out because I will need all the help I can get.
P.S.
Sorry it is so long.
