Suspension Question

Car has been getting really bouncy lately. I have coilovers with the stock shocks. If I get some new shocks that should make driving not so tail-bone shattering right? I just don't want to get new shocks to find out the ride will be the same...

Yes, the shocks will greatly improve your ride quality.

Thumbs down

It is high recomended not to use stock shock with any lowering springs or coil-overs. Your shock are probably blown. Check them & see if you can tell if any fluid leaked out.:smoker2:

Exclamation

Yea like tockio blues, KYB, or konis. If you just street driving not racing you really don't need adjustable shocks. Just keep in mind two things.

Do you ride with the car lowered down super far? This will kill any shock in a freakin hurry, bring the car up a little if its super low.

And what coilovers are they? I've seen cheap, no-name coilovers have really horrible spring rates that again cause the car to be bouncy and kill shocks a little quicker, just some things to think about.

yea i got some tokico premiums and they made my car feel like new again..... plus i needed really good struts to support my motor, and it depends on your brand too.... R-1 and Matrix are horribly bouncy..... i have R-1s in my other hatch and they suck.... in this one i have integra skunk2 coilovers..... they rock!!

I have the eibach prokit which says 1.5 front and 1.7 rear but settled to like 2.5 all around, and the prokit by eibach says 1.0 front and back so it should settle around 1.5 or so, check out ci5ic's car, he has the prokits on!

I have prokits on my car too, pretty good price, good ride quailty, helps you a little in the turns, no need for a camber kit. Go for them!

I have the Eibach pro-kit with KYB adjustable. the car is very stiff & bouncy on the highest setting which is only 4. A lot of the KYB's are 8 was adjuable but the 4 is good enough. My car settled about 2" all the way around. I do like the way they are adjusted from the top with a small flat blade screwdriver(supplied with each shock) instead the side adjustment which seems to be a pain. When replacing "struts" make sure to replace the bushings. might as well spring for the poly since they are less than $15.00 for 88-91 civics. throw a new set of dust boots too if not supplied.
