AEM cold air intake on a 89 civic

I own an 89 civic lx. I was wondering if I would be able to buy an AEM cold air intake for my car. People tell me that AEM only makes the intake for the EX/SI. I even went to the AEM site and they didn't sell the cold air intake for my car. I was wondering if the intake for the 88-91 civic EX/SI would fit my LX. If not, what modifations would I need to do? If I can't get it to fit, what would be the best CAI for my car? Any help would be appreciated. Thx. Also I have the same question for the DC Sports Header 4-2-1 ceramic. DC Sports doesn't make it for the LX but would the EX/SI version of my year fit my LX? Please help...

You would be better off doing the MPFI swap first, rather then spend $200 on a CAI. You will also get a better gain doing that.

yeah the LX/DX DPFI doesn't respond well to mods of any sort, and most parts don't fit right anyway.

Yea, I put an intake on my car for a EX/SI and it fit fine. Yea, it probably would have done more good with the MPFI setup, but hey whatever works for now. Once you do an engine swap...if you plan on it...you will still be able to use that intake.

Dont waste your money with AEM, all intakes are pretty much the same ... is that carb approved sticker really worth the extra money to not change your intake back to stock every once in a while for smog purposes?

They are not all the same. Different material's used, insulate heat, etc. differently.

But, and a weak setup like a dpfi motor, that really doesnt matter.

I still cant believe people are willing to pay $200 for an aem CAI when they can get a knockoff on ebay for like $60.

I bought mine because I am materialistic. I prefer proven products, over something cheap. But if I have the money, why not?

AEM filters have a velocity stack inside which helps direct the air all in the same direction insead of turbulent air.

Yes but they are made special for AEM go to http://www.importparts.com/importpar.../View/21&2D403 they call it an air horn but same thing really!
Have you ever see a AEM filter? You will notice that it doesn't look anythink at all like the k&n. It is made by them but yopu can't buy one like it from K&n

Yea, i'd rather buy quality than crap, and the AEM FILTER doesn not say K&N anywhere even though it is, but it does have a big AEM embosed into the plastic part...

Hmm.. my friend has the ITR AEM CAI on his 94 GSR cause hes got the skunk2 manifold and the GSR AEM CAI wont fit, I know the GSR one said k&n on the chrome part, I will have to check the new one, I never really looked.

Whole reason I am not a fan of AEM products is because they front with their "dyno proven" bullshit and act like an intake is really gonna give you 15hp, so all these little riceboys buy the shit, and then get themselves a greddy which is like another 10, and then think that they will be able to take on anything short of a porshe. When in reality, intake will probably only give you like 5 -7 and this is under optimal conditions.

Thats cause like all other companies do, is have a heavily modded car with a stock air box and dyno it, then put a aem cai on it and the power increase's a lot, this is cause mods work better together...
