92 Octane vs. Regular

I know what octane is for, but I'm not really worried about compression, so I was wondering what are the other benefits of buying 92 octane gasoline (besides the increase in power)?

The higher the RON rating of gasoline, the cleaner it burns and the fuller the combustion. However, compared to Japanese or Australian standards - 92 is pathetic. 92 is our regular (basic) stuff, 96 is premium and 98 is the best you can get. They're introducing 100 soon.

If you are not running high compression engine, turbo, NOS, or supercharger you are only wasting your money. If your car is supposed to run 87 or 89 you are only giving away money.

Yeah you're right about performance-wise, theres no difference if youre stock and running 92. But it does clean out your engine a little bit, and also u get a little better gas mileage, it aaaaalmost compensates for the extra buck or two on each full tank.
But hten again you can use STP every 4-5000 miles and clean your fuel system.

EXACTLY. If you don't need it, don't give 'em the extra cash.

Not worth the extra $2 a fillup... spend $2 a month and throw some fuel inejctor cleaner in your tank and youll be better off.
