Does anybody have a FAQ on streetcar seatbelts?

Hi All,

I am currently working on a 1992 Mustang GT convertible, and was wondering how I could add seatbelts, since they would be so visible. I did a search, and all I found was info on racecar seatbelts. Can anyone help?

I cut some outt of stiff paper! They look so real, but i still dont have a camera. Ill try and get some pics when my cam arrives.

When I get a camera, I'll show you mine from my WRX. I used masking tape painted black, as well as index card paper, marker-ed black. Both worked great. I used a Model Car Garage set of buckles.

The most important part is to get reference pics of where the belts attach on the real car. (I messed mine up, and the reference pics were right under my nose! :o)

Hi guys, thanks for your replies. I know that I will use masking tape but the thing I don't know is how wide I should cut them. IIRC, two #11 bleades in a holder provide the right width, is that correct?

I have reference material, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I dunno. I have a half-inch scale ruler, and I used that to measure 2" in 1/24 scale. I just did my best to keep them parallel.

Yes, in street cars, some seatbelts retract fully into the body, and in others, they hang from an anchor point in the interior. I like to use the seatbelt buckles of race cars for street cars. I paint half of them black (the handle part) and leave the locking lever area chromed.
