How good do the carbon fiber decals look for a hood? Does it look real enough? Is it the same thing that they sell in "import tuner" shops?

Gotta love real 1:1 with a carbon fiber [cough]sticker[/cough] hood

If you look at FlyontheWall's 350Z in the competition, it has C/F decal on the hood(for a better photo, you could look on his site). I think it makes a very good C/F hood, I already use C/F decal on rally cars and like how real it looks.

How is scalemotorsport.com's shipping? Also, how do you go about fitting the decal exactly on the hood only. Do you have to put it on then cut it off with a razor where it doesnt belong?

Pretty much, yeah. It's good to trace out the shape of the hood on paper first, then use that as your template for cutting the decal out.

It's also a good idea to cut out too much around the edges, instead of not enough.

Take a look at this web site:

www.msmodels.co.uk

Paul has a very good, EZ to read and follow guide for applying CF decals.

Another thing to try is using a CF pattern 1 scale smaller than the scale you are working on.
i.e. on a 1/20 kit try the 1/24 scale CF, and on a 1/24 kit try the 1/43.

I find varying the shade and scale of the CF decal improves the realisem, on the 1:1 cars the CF isn't all the same, the weave alters as it goes around a corner, and in some places the weave is tighter (for more strength)

Thumbs up I will...

I have your address still; look for some next week; along with a package of delicious :spam:! J/k I can send you enough to do at least 1 hood, more if I got it to spare.
