Heavy dakar rally crash

Some serious crashes in the Dakar rally ... Let's hope driver and codriver come out unharmed....

17:00 : - Kenjiro Shinozuka was put under breathing assistance and will be taken to Tunisia within an hour and then to Paris once his health state is better. Thierry Delli Zotti: satisfactory state. Will be taken to Tunisia in the same plane with Shinozuka for a precautionary scan.

17:00 : Shinozuka is reported to have suffered a 'very important' cut on the right side of his face...

16:20 : NISSAN PRESS RELEASE: Shinozuka crashed seriously at km 373 of the special. The car flew off on a bump before falling ten metres further. The driver, Kenjiro Shinozuka is very seriously injured while his co-pilot Thierry Deli Zotti is seriously injured. Both men have been taken by helicopter to the medical center of the rally in Sabha, Lybia. From there and once their state of health stabilised, they will be taken to Tunis in a medical plane.

seems to be more or less the same accident that other drivers suffered from last year...

I sincerely hope both of them are going to make it. Especially since Shinozuka is probably my favourite rally-raid driver. H is also a very nice guy!

This is a really sad news.

Thank goodness they are both improving rapidly
That was a nasty wreck.

Does anyone know what actually happened to Alfie Cox in the bike section, I missed the bikes that night and would like to know because Alfie is from the city I grew up in.....talk about the 'local legend'!

Alfie just got lost, went to fast to get back on track, hit a rock, and broke/dislocated his shoulder.
